His summer location was well known. He hasn't been back for 2 years, pretty safe to say he died that winter after the Utards hounded him for his horns non stop
Actually this buck is a good example of why shed seasons do not work. The person picked up the sheds on the opener of the season. The problem is shed hunters looking to gain an advantage, photographers looking for the a picture of a once in a lifetime buck and gawkers just hoping to see the mega buck were hounding him all winter long. The only thing that will work is area closures.

I completely disagree. Letting bureaucrats shut down public lands for their pet peeves is a bad idea.

Use some of that auction money to enforce wildlife harassment laws.

I agree, never said I agree with shutting down public land, just pointing out why shed season don't work that well and when people figure that out what the next step is. A step too far for me too on most public land. Enforce the laws on the books.

Doesnt Wyoming technically have area closures because all of the roads are supposed to be closed? The problem is its not well enforced from what I've seen and heard.

Couldn't tell you on that, I live next to the opposite corner of the state.
No rules work well if there is lax enforcement.

Some fairly large areas of BLM in western Wyo are subject to winter range motorized vehicle closures. Not 100% sure the exact winter location of this buck but I beleive he was either in one of them or darn close. The winter range closures still leave motorized travel on hwy's and county roads and also a person can walk around to their hearts content.

IMO, lack of enforcement is not the problem. The closures do not apply to highways and county roads. Also a person can walk around as much as they want. And they do. Thats how these pictures come into existence.
Yes he was in a road closure area. Trouble is, the roads don't close until Jan 1, so everyone can drive on the two-tracks until then. I have to admit, I'm guilty of taking some great pics of him before Jan 1. I went a second time and couldn't believe the increase in paparazzi chasing him around. I had to leave. It was ridiculous.

Can we see a few of your pics?
