If You Could Have Any Hunt?

NZ.. Red stag, Fallow deer, Arapawa Ram, Tahr, and maybe finish it up with a goat and pig. All archery of course! 😜 , wile my wife shops her little heart out and a chief prepares all our meals, and finish the evening up with the 12-year-old scotch and a cigar in front of a big fire before a restful evening just to wake up and do it all again tomorrow. 🤙🏽

I'm surprised there hasn't been many mule deer nominations. I'd say an Antelope Island mule deer hunt would be pretty much a slam dunk?

I'd say in North America I would say dall sheep would be on top of my list. Possibly a remote NWT camp with caribou and grizz added.

If given the entire continent I would say the ultimate would be some sort of argali sheep hunt somewhere with ibex tossed in if available!

I would use the pioneer tag and hunt every species, as no tag needed as I have the special pioneer tag that allows me to hunt and go where pleases.. but a Marco would be number 1.

A yearly General Season rifle deer tag, just so I could pretend I was hunting. Hell they could even make it 4 point or better.

Do you know Mutts well?
I’ve only met her one time.

I thought I wanted to cook for an outfitter, after I retire, back in 2012. I printed up some business cards and went down to the SCI Convention in Las Vegas that summer. I started handing out cards to all the vender outfitters inside the show. I gave one to Mutt’s father and about a hour later he came and found me out walking the vendor booths. He said, @my daughter wants to talk with you”.

I talked to her for about an hour and a half. She went over all their operation and how they use their yacht to lodge, feed and hunt out of. After explaining their operation I told her I don’t think I could cook the quality and type of food she was feeding her clientele. She laughed and said, “well….. you can cook….. can’t you”, I said, yes but not the kind of meals your providing. She laughed again and said, “I’ll pay you to come to camp early and I’ll teach how to cook every meal, exactly like I cook it myself. I cook same meals for every client, and there are new clients every week”.

Both she and her father were extremely professional and kind. I really wanted to take the offer but I don’t need the money and I didn’t want to work 9 months out of the year. I wanted to do it for fun and I wasn’t willing to have them train me and count on me being there 9 months a year, so that ended my quest to be a camp cook and I’ve never had occasion to ever talk to her again.

After meeting both her and her father, I can’t imagine hunting coastal brown bear with Mutts would not but an amazing experience, start to finish.

Great story!

I have watched videos for years on Ibex in the Florida mountains of New Mexico. There are other hunts that would be absolutely amazing, but I would truly love the opportunity to chase those Ibex while my body would still allow me to do so.

I've been lucky enough to hunt most NA and Africa animals. All are fun and each unique in its own way. My dream is to have an Idaho Super Tag for any of the four species, and devote 3 months to targeting one animal!!
May your dream come to fruition Chef Blank. May I have the other three……. Just checking. I’ll reimburse you, of course.
