My dad (finally) drew a tag after 17 years of putting in for X5B and we are up here camping off Buckhorn Rd and haven’t seen 1 deer. Not even a doe. He’s in his 70’s & was diagnosed with lung cancer this year, so needless to say this is probably his last big hunt. Would love if we can go back home with something for him. Any insight/updates on where the heck the deer are would be great appreciated. 🙏

You might try posting this down in the California section below. Might get more eyes on it that are familiar with the unit.

Honestly your best bet on Intel might be the local game bio. Or Chukar hunters. Most deer hunters never draw the tag let alone more than once.

Good luck.

I started at the stateline and hunt across to the hills toward the west side of the unit saw more deer close to the stateline the the westside. I got a little help from Chukar hunters that jump some bucks so if you see any bird hunters talk to them. Can't remember the hill top I killed that buck on But I could see the hiway that ran north. ROAD HUNTING don't work in that unit walking and glassing from the high area's will pay off While it did for me.
