For those of you still looking for a good elk hunt for this year, Tuffy Barnett at Mangas Outfitters, has a few muzzleloader tags available for private and public lands. Here's what he currently has available.

3 muzzleloader tags on a private ranch in unit 15, the ranch is 10,000 acres. Hunt dates can be any 5 days in Nov. or Dec.

2 muzzleloader unit wide 13 tags. Hunt dates are Nov. 16-20.

2 muzzleloader unit wide 15 tags. Hunt dates are Nov. 9-13.

All hunts in 13,15 are bow and muzzleloader. No rifle, that is why.

I did one of the November hunts a few years ago with this outfit and it was a joke. My "guide" had never hunted the unit outside of archery season so he took us to all the great spots for September. The November hunt requires a guide that knows where the elk go to recover post-rut. Usually steep nasty canyons or the large private ranch that doesn't allow public access.
