Utah LE archery. Anyone else struggling?

Helping my brother on a book cliffs hunt. Seeing elk and hearing bugles morning and night, but overall activity is low. Still seeing cows with no bulls. Calling gets weak responses with rag horns coming in, but I am hoping rut activity gets going.

Lots of water so sitting water hasn’t been too productive. Stalks are always tough.

Surprised how few hunters we have seen, only have talked to two other elk hunters.

Wondering how other LE hunters are doing.

Good luck and happy hunting.

LE archery ends on the 17th.

My son and I both killed our LE bulls about 10 days ago. Didn’t see a lot of bulls while hunting but we capitalized when the opportunity presented itself.

My guess is this cooler weather should trigger some rut activity.

Good luck!

As always, the last week of Archery is the only remote chance the rut gets going for the big boys. I'm only a little shocked to hear you haven't seen any big bulls out there. They keep to their hidey holes pretty well until they wanna get the girls.

Turn the frustration into focus. Keep at it. All of a sudden, in a day or two, you'll have a chance at a big bull, and you have to be ready! Good luck!

I hope you don't mind me being happy for you guys getting the 270" bull... Archery hunts are hard enough without the hot weather y'all had to put up with. If bulls don't start popping off with about a week left, it starts to get stressful. The Book Cliffs are huge, and though there are a lot of elk, locating a bull through bugles is paramount. I'm glad you guys stuck with it despite the discouragement. I hope you all realize size doesn't necessarily make the trophy. 😃😃

Had a great week hunting and hunt went about as expected. with archery you accept less than 50% success rate. I saw more small 6 point/5 point bulls than I thought we would, and fewer 320 and better bulls. But still had a great time with tasty meat, beautiful trophy and timeless memories!
