It would seem like the gentleman’s thing to do.
If they bring food and offer it for meals I’d never turn them down but if they are there to help, I’d do my best to make sure they ate well.
Not always, but usually friends that join our hunts, will just bring food, because they want to, but if they ask I/we always tell them I/we have the food covered. The camp meals are generally a good part of a good camp/hunt.
I have a good friend that doesn’t want to loose valuable sleep preparing meals. I’ve seen him open a can of ravioli and eat it cold, and he’s off to sleep before I have the potatoes peeled.
He’s behavior represents a commitment to the hunt, not to the boiling water or the skillet. Can’t fault him for that.
