Wondering How The Early Rifle Hunt Went For You Guys?

And What Caliber Of Bulls Did You Guys Harvest?

Any 400"ERS? (Sorry ridgetops!:D) I Gotta Ask!

Any 350"ERS?

Any 325"ERS?

Not Being SMART!

Just Wondering How You Guys Did?

And I Hope You Done Well!

Oh,And Tell Your Dad I Said Hi As Well!

Went 50/50 on the Archery, my dad filled his tag on a big framed 5 that was probably 300” bull. He got an arrow into a 340” type bull but after 2 miles of track and no recovery he and we felt good about continuing.

We had 2 multi guys in and 2 early rifle dudes. The two early guys went 50/50 one guy killed a 340” bull the other filled the mtn with lead on 3 different occasions and didn’t fill the tag. Both multi guys elected to try the late hunt.

One muzz guy in, and he missed ‘the biggest bull he’s ever seen’ yesterday while we sat water. I never saw it, was offset about 60 yards working call.

Much much better than last year. All hunters saw/passed on mature bulls 2-3 times during early rifle. Substantial improvement, still not good, but if I was sitting on points, I’d be aiming for a snatch tag either next year or probably the year after. Good chance it hunts better than it ever has.

“Than is ever has”. Judas.

What’s the guys name and cell phone number who missed 3 different times? 🤪

Is that 340” bull you’re talking about the one from poison?

My 20 year old son had the archery tag this year and my 18 year old son had the early rifle last year. Both had great hunts. We hunted hard and put our work in before the hunt started and knew what to expect. We also chose locations as far from the roads as possible.

Last year, 2023, we killed a mature bull, 6 point, it just didnt have the score everyone seems to buy into these days. it was a memory of a lifetime for me and my son. Most would say it was a bust because the score wasn't above 320 but I have a very different opinion.

This year, 2024, my son killed a very symmetrical 6x7 with his bow and it was #4 on the list. He killed on Aug 30th and he had 15 cows and was bugling really well. For the score junkies, I'm not telling you the score on this bull because to me its irrelevant. Its a bigger bull than most forum discussions say are on the wasatch unit and there were 3 bigger than this bull in our preparations.

The Wasatch to me is a special place and one that holds great bulls and some great memories. I would take the wasatch tag anytime I could get one in my possession. We are not superb hunters but what we do that separates us from others is our willingness to go farther and work harder, generally speaking.
