Guess The Score #1

I’m going to do a 5 week series of guess the score. Whoever gets the closest by the end of each week gets a congratulations from me lol. The rules are you get two guesses and at the end of the week I will post the score sheet and we’ll see who was the closest.

What do you think this guy scores? He’s a tricky one.

Interesting!

I use the longer main beam for spread credit when Gross scoring.

I didn't realize some may use the full inside spread for gross score.
Is that common?
I’ve never met anybody who does it that way. I do it the spread from inside of main beam to inside of main beam at widest point.

I'm sorry I didn't explain myself correctly.
What I'm saying is my understanding of spread credit is can only be credited up to the length of the longer main beam. Even for gross scoring purposes if you are allowing a wide buck full spread credit even if it's longer than the main beam I'm good with that I like it. I may have to remeasure a few of my bucks that will probably gross higher that way.

Yes that’s how it should be done.

Guys, the spread credit has nothing to do with Net or Gross. The spread credit can only ever be either be the greatest inside spread of the main beams OR the measurement of the longer of the two main beams; whichever is smaller.

Given that B&C is a "scientific" documentation of symmetry, spread is actually a dumb measurement for them to have. But all hunters like to know how wide bucks are and they couldn't get past their inner hunter 😃😁

Yes it does. Under BC and PY the gross score is adjusted when the inside spread credit exceeds the length of the longest main beam.

I have a personal question if you don't mind. I'm curious which one of the four guys in the killshot pic is you? Thanks

Yes it does. Under BC and PY the gross score is adjusted when the inside spread credit exceeds the length of the longest main beam.
There's only one box for Spread Credit. It is added to the gross score of the left and right antlers (Giving a "Gross" score) then the deductions are subtracted from this "Gross" score. The Spread Credit does not change.

Most times, the Spread Credit is the inside spread of the main beams, but sometimes it is equal to the length of the longer main beam... its still called the Spread Credit either way, it is not adjusted. 🙂

Boone and crockett would be 171.25 on account of longest main beam I guessed 171
Yes you are very close using the standard measuring method.
I admire those that don't overestimate bucks score.
The guys that were in the 180 and up makes me wonder.
Some of them are long time hunters and taxidermist.
It's no wonder Zim was seeing so many 180+ bucks ha ha

Actually it was Bigmoosie who hit it dead on at 175-5/8. Post#58.
Thanks for posting, it’s always fun to see what others are seeing. Makes me question my meager deer scoring abilities.
Well, I never like to overestimate the size of a big buck.😁 Good job Moosie!

I have attached a BC scoring sheet for the buck based upon the measurements provided. I think we are saying the same thing differently.

Purple circle is 25 4/8 inside spread of main beams. Orange circle is spread credit and on this buck it’s 21 2/8, the length of the longest main beam. 25 4/8 is never added to the gross score. What is added to the gross score is 21 2/8 which shows up in the green circle.
