Looking for recommendations for a backpack stove/pot combo. Will only be used to boil water for dehydrated meals. Have been looking at jetboils but not sure they are worth the price. Also looking at the bsr-3000t on Amazon. But not sure what to pair with it. Thanks in advance for suggestions.

I have enjoyed my Camp Chef Stryker.

Full disclosure, my brother had one that had a pretty dangerous malfunction, but mine has worked flawlessly. It has performed equal to the jet boil in the backcountry on multiple trips.

I'm not a backpack camper. But I use this with a pocket rocket for making coffee or cooking when we are in the swamp hunting birds in the winter. Amazon

Titanium Snow peak stove and Toaks 750 ml pot. About $65 and $35. Very light and small. ( u don't need fuel can this large. I packed it in and stashed it!)

Jet boil would be my vote. Someone mentioned jet boil is anti hunting. If you boycotted every product or company that had an opposing view of yours, you'd be living on the streets eating stray cats and drinking your piss. If it helps you sleep at night, just picture the CEO of jet boil having a meltdown and sleepless nights because he knows a filthy hunter is out killing poor animals using his product.

Mountain house I’m pretty sure I remember being anti hunting too. They have fueled a lot of trips for me that ended in death to an animal. So take that MH!

They also tell you not to burn their packaging. So I burn everyone after I eat. Another thumb in the eye of the man!!!

Just buy what works guys. Who gives a chit..,

Soto Windmaster with the built in piezo lighter. It can boil water in in the middle of a fierce windstorm. Has never let me down after many backpack hunts.

It's a bit on the pricey side ($69 average) and it's just for the burner, but they go on sale often.

My favorite they don’t make any more. Sea food chowder. That was the best.

Beef stroganoff is up there. I love their Mac and cheese because it loads up the calories and tastes good to boot.

Back packers pantry has a hatch green chilli Mac and cheese out now that’s killer. I bought a pile of those

I used to wonder if Jetboil was worth the price... then I had a gift card to Sportsmans so I used it to get the Jetboil at what I thought was a more reasonable price...

Having used it several times on overnighters, I would pay the full price. Gets the job done quick as can be. My model has the push to light thing too, which came in handy when I forgot matches on one trip.

Buy the Jetboil……. I learned the hard way on my Utah adventure. Thought I’d save a few bucks and bought the el cheapo on the shelf next to the jet boil ……..junk took forever to bring water to a boil ! I guess I like to learn a lot of things the hard way !!!! lol

My two favorites:
Chicken and Dumplings
Lasagna in Meat Sauce

The Breakfast versions aren’t bad. And one they don’t make anymore, Turkey Tetrazzini was really good!

I haven’t dove too much into the Peak Refuel but the protein content in them has me interested. They are even more pricey than the already over-priced Mountain House brand, though.

Yeah, see meat eaters new ones? Like 16 bucks just for the pleasure of seeing that d bags face on the package while you eat

I use a “fire maple fixed star 1” it was cheap only 49 $ bucks, it’s lasted quite a while with no problems, but I only use it to boil water, I can’t reasonably pay $100 just to boil water that’s ridiculous, ONE FACT it does take a little longer to boil water than the jet boil, but only about a minute or two longer. Favorite freeze dry food., chili Mac

I like my own FD meals of which Chili, Chicken Pad Thai and Creamy Pork Verde Soup are the best. I will never buy another FD meal again.

MSR all the way. my brother has the jet boil and I boil quicker albeit maybe 30 seconds but I also use less gas... you could even get the MSR pocket rocket and couple with a titanium pot for super lightweight. (which I owned previously) I also own 4 other MSR stoves from when I was guiding backpackand mountaineering trips as well as years of wilderness therapy guiding... proven bomb proof multi fuel stoves!

I loved my pocket rocket until I got my jetboil. I no longer carry and pots or pans so weight is basically the same. It heats water a lot faster and I pack my Nalgene bottle inside the jetboil - it fits perfectly. What I am getting at is the pocket rocket is good. OVerall the jetboil is better in every way, weighs the same and takes up the same amount of room the way I pack. Also pocket rockets are easy for stuff to fall off if bumped, which could be really bad.

I attempted to find any references to Mountain House being anti-hunting. I could not find any evidence to support this statement of yours.

I have a fire maple water boiler coming from amazon. $50. Will it be a buy nice or buy twice event? Will I end up with a jetboil? TBD.

I really like my fire maple, but all I do with it is boil water and it does that just fine, I’ve never had a problem with my spark clicker,

Oh probably just rumors I remember hearing years ago. Who knows. Goes to my point though. Just buy what works, little boycotts on companies that big don’t make a dent
