Case of mistaken buck during a rut fest last year, his buddy was a super deep forked 4x4 both big bodied. Haven’t taped him but I’d be surprised if it hit 150, nice frame though, just an average buck… all my bucks are average so far though, with my big buck being 170

I am use to average bucks because 120”-150” deer generally get me excited and I pull the trigger. I have smaller and bigger but these are some that I have that I classified as average. Each have a memory and it has been a ton of fun over the years. I hope I can hold out this year but I won’t count on it because I know with happens when I see a decent buck and my mind starts talking myself into pulling the trigger. My freezer is alway full due to my weakness so that is a good thing. It is a Fun time of the year.

Good luck.

To me those are all good bucks and I would have a hard time passing any of them.

It's about the wonderful time in the woods with dear friends and family. I've harvested several bucks over the years, 90% were in this class . Proud of every one with memories that will last a lifetime. Couple muley hunts this fall...always seeking next level bucks.

Average bucks are the meat and potatoes for us all. Wouldn't be nearly as fun to have a site with about 5 posts per year if we only talked about true Monster Muleys.----SS
That’s kinda the reason I started this post , I was hoping to see all these pics and read the stories behind the pictures 👍 , we’d all love to shoot monsters but the Reality is probably 85 to 90% of us will never better a 160 -170 class if I had to guess and for me it’s as much about the chaise and time outdoors as it is bagging a booner

Man, I know we all idolize big bucks but this post had me searching my archives and looking through older pics of just that……average bucks. What I didn’t realize was the memories I relived in wild places with people that maybe I don’t have the same relationship now. Trip down memory lane for me!

Awesome pics!!!........nice looking Nova parked in that shop!!👌👍

First mule deer I ever killed on the first trip I’d ever been on to actually see a mule deer in the wild. Hunted out of Buffalo on public land down toward the Powder.

This buck lit a fire that I hope don’t go out until the Good Lord calls me home.

Was a real good time for a flatlander farm boy from Indiana. Luckily I’ve made many trips to visit where muleys call home since.

I can see where a buck like that would light a fire for a first !

A lot of the average bucks posted are great bucks to me. Many I wouldn't hesitate to kill on opening day. It's a testimony to if/how much you are able to scout and how many days you are able to hunt during the season. Lots of us can't make multiple trips to where our tags are so we only have a day or two before the season to try to find the better class deer. If I lived closer to where I spent most of my time hunting, my expectations would be higher. I enjoy my time in the field. I don't kill big, mature bucks most of the time. I enjoy eating the meat and going in my garage and starring at my racks to relive memories. That is what it is about. I am sure most of us feel the same.

Agreed........and also for me, I haven't the time to hunt like I used to due to family and work commitments for about the last 4-5 years. I'm on a 6 year drought right now that's a bummer but it is what it is. Lol
