No, any 12 gauge slugs, up to the 1 oz Forster lead ones. These barrels were game changers for short range seasons. Super accurate, and meant you could have 5 shots rapidly.

Iowa boy here that grew up hunting deer with a Hastings on my 870. Mine has rifle sights on it. True game changer shooting deer slugs. I used Lightfield slugs with superb accuracy and success. I was not aware they are no longer available.
