Colorado Unit 44 Archery

Hey folks, I drew an Archery tag in unit 44. I have focused my scouting on the south side of the unit on the border of 444 in the high country. The basins are pretty brutal along that ridge line, lots of shale and ribbon cliffs making descent tough. I have seen plenty of rams and elk but very few deer. Although I have seen deer each trip, typically feeding in high meadows. With the very few deer I've seen and how tough those spots are to access I'm thinking about changing my approach but unfortunately won't have another weekend to scout before season opens. Does anyone have any pointers for locating deer in this unit during archery?

I would avoid hunting along that 44/444 border. The best bucks in that unit are going to be in aspen and pine areas. I'll shoot you over a PM.

I’m just curious if you’ve hunted unit 44 @Founder did you kill a buck?
