338 7/8" Mule Deer

Certainly a unique and special deer, but I personally think it is kind of ugly. Not as spectacular as a buck like Dennis Wintch's amazing 40" wide Bigfoot buck. Thoughts???

I agree with you on looks! There are lots of giant bucks killed that are ugly as sin. Personally I think a straight typical 4x4 that barely grosses over 200 inches is prettier than most giant non-typicals that score over 250 inches. The buck in my avatar is a good looking buck!

100% agree - the eyeguards on your profile pic buck are something else!!!! Was that buck killed or still alive? Looks like he had some growth still to go on each of those tines at that time.

The buck I posted was killed a year after my pict was taken and it scored 232 inches.

what part of Colorado did he kill the deer in? I assume that the county has to be disclosed to enter into the record book?

Yuck…….i don’t care for that one at all. My reaction would most likely be different if he was seen on the hoof……. but yuck, he’s ugly !

I have to agree Winches mr big buck is very impressive and nice to look at

It scores high, but not that impressive. I think the video stated "180 inch frame with 150 inches of stuff." Would I stalk and shoot it? Heck yeah! Bwht's avatar is a much nicer buck, IMO.

Don't misunderstand me, I'd shoot him in a heartbeat, and be happy. But IMO, the 220" BWHT Avatar buck is more impressive, even with 120" less score.

I remember this deer well. It can into the shop I worked at at the time. It's pretty impressive to see in person. It was interesting to watch it be scored.

I don't usually watch the videos. But I did watch this one. Very well done and I like and appreciate the guy's philosophy. Super buck and I like him. What character. I do have a hard time seeing his typical frame.

The thing I wonder about is why none of the score experts here on MM haven't said "338???...... I can only get 327 when I armchair score him." Haha.....

The re-issue tags in that unit weren’t classified as “great” According to Coloradoman.

They aren't great. Why are you so persistent on that? None of the units down here are anymore. I live right next to the unit and we still kill great bucks but it's nothing like it used to be growing up. There is a reason those units are still low points. Residents can draw all the seasons except 4th with no points.

They are for sure trending down. I live in Montezuma county too. Also you can’t draw early rifle with zero points.
