I’m curious how you would expect him to react. He was hoisted up to get a hand hold on the roof then had a rifle pointed at him. His nerves obviously got to him, but what else could he have done differently?

Get boosted back up and engage? That’s what they signed up for….he must have went to the same school as Walz.

How did the shooter get up so easily yet these cops had to boost each other?

The shooter didn’t have to worry about getting shot in the face as he climbed. The cop had both hands occupied grabbing the roof. Not sure how you guys would have handled this situation, but I wouldn’t go as far as calling him a coward.

You're supposed to run forward in gun battles. Not backwards. Unless of course you're French.
You think the local PD’s are training their people to basically commit suicide? Scale a wall without backup where a close proximity shooter is ready for you?

Do they train them to do 1/2 mile laps?

Dropping down sure. Running out through an unprotected field?

Was the goal to draw fire?

I think we all need to give the local guys a break.....when the "SS" rolls into town you'd think they are in charge and competent......for gawds sake....they do this daily....it is THEIR responsibility to keep the protectee alive....

If a local Barney had shot that guy and killed him and the shooting of Trump would not have happened......The US DOJ would have barbequed the locals......

I’m genuinely curious what either of you if put into this man’s shoes, would have done differently.

Maybe not. But then I'm not a cop. I'm not trained to be a cop. I don't get a cops pension.

You want this guy protecting your kids school?

Where in the training manual does it cover when ceeding ground to an elevated shooter, with a long gun, run out into an open field, away from your own long gun.?

He, along with the site agent in the SS should have been gone weeks ago.

I’m not sure. My point is this local policeman interrupted the shooter and probably saved Trumps life. Maybe his actions after having fallen off the roof weren’t 100% perfect in everyone’s hindsight Purview, but he doesn’t deserve to be called a coward.
The question is this: If this cop had to do it over again...what do you think he would have done? The same?

Did you say the same thing about the cops in Uvalde?

What's the difference?

I would say access to the shooter. If this cop could have had his hands full of gun and not trying to climb a roof then he would be considered a coward. But the logistics of getting to the shooter weren’t that simple.

I guess we won't ever know. However, the next best thing is to actually ask a cop. I have a good friend who's been a cop for over 20yrs. He was also a USMC sniper. Seeing him this week. Will get his inputs. I'll let you know.

Had he dropped down, pulled pistol and got to radio and screaming about a shooter, sure.

The run through the field?

Come on

Sure. His after encounter actions could use some refinement. But for just being a regular beat cop do you really feel he’s a coward or should be let go?

I remember, you are the one that says you would not risk your life for the kids in that UVALDE elementary school.
At the end of the day you can hold your head high because you made it home, even thoe them 19 kids did not.
F-YOU.
Your memory is about as short as your wang, but carry on with your faux outrage. For the record, I'm pro second amendment and with that comes school shootings, cost of doing business.

But in fairness...

After the initial contact the cop should have lobbed a grenade up on the roof. Or go in the building and shoot straight up through the roof. Doing the 100 yard dash in 3 minutes to get another weapon was not helpful.

Maybe Train Them To Slam A Magazine In A Little Quicker!

Looked Like A Good Way To Get Your Head Blowed Off To Me!

They Ever Figure Out How The Shooter Got Up On The Roof?

Good point. He could have tossed a flashbang or a stun grenade up there without putting himself in danger and it would have drawn everyone's immediate attention.

I said grenade because I've read too many Vietnam war books. 😄
