I drew this tag this year. I dont have a ton of time to scout. I hate to ask, but is anyone willing to discuss things to avoid when hunting this area? I am not a picky hunter and am very capable. I really just wanted to spend a week in the area!

With 1,430 tags given away this year you're probably not going to get a lot of info from folks. Easier tags to draw are a lot harder to get info on versus Big 3 elk tags or antelope tags and such. I've never hunted Beulah but have hunted a few rifle deer hunts where there were tons of tagholders. My best advice would be to get away from the roads or into the Wilderness Area if you can hike. Find some sign and either hunt suuuuper slowly or just sit and wait. In those highly pressured deer units the deer move around A LOT. Find some thick cover somewhere with a lot of sign and sit and wait.

I agree with this but I also know there are times it's outside the box thinking that will get you away from pressure. I killed my best oregon muley by glassing areas along an access road that everyone blew past (usually in the dark or during mid day heat) to get to the "good deer country up top" where the big bucks are.

Everyone wants to hunt the area bordering private or as far away from the pavement as they can. Doesn't take the deer long to figure outbwhere the pressure isn't.

Looked back at my buddies texts, he and his brother have hunted all over Beulah for the last 40 years. Probably weigh a buck 60 and run distance, they get around. He hunted 9 days last year and saw 7 Deer.
If you drew the rifle hunt I'd get a DR note turn it back.

Yea for sure. I've noticed this a lot in my Weyerhauser permit area during times of high traffic also. I've hunted surrounding units of Beulah both rifle and archery and I see more deer and bigger bucks the further away from roads that I get. I mostly try to hunt Wilderness Areas or large roadless areas and just get back in there and spike out. I like the solitude also.
