Idaho Unit 55

I recently drew an October Unit 55 mule deer tag and I was hoping to get a little help from those that have hunted the unit. I have never been to the unit before but plan to do some summer scouting. Can someone recommend some good camp spots? Can anyone recommend some good side by side trails to drive? I’m also open to backpacking if you could recommend some good trails to hike? Any info would be really helpful?

Welcome, being a new member your best bet would be searching the forum for info.

If you don’t have On X maps- get it or one of the similar apps.
Get out there and scout for Camps and figure the road and trails out.
Also be sure to comeback here and contribute by sharing your experience.

I haven’t been in 55, but a neighbor unit.
You should see plenty of deer while glassing- just get away from the side x side if you can.

A lot of chukar, grouse, and Huns out there.
Good luck
TB

I've hunted it but I found out where and how to hunt by going out and getting familiar with the area. Stop by Wicks Steak Place in Declo if you get a chance!
I plan on going and visiting the unit a couple times before the hunt. I will definitely put the time in.

I will definitely keep you posted on what I come across during my scouting and the hunt.

I have been in 55 quite a bit this summer scouting for a different hunt. Message me and I can give you some info on camping and maybe some road access depending on where in unit you are considering hunting.
