I really liked my Paramount the way it was. What are you going to do with yours? (Utah)

I’m in Nevada. No scopes here. I bought a Paramount last year for my Utah hunt and didn’t realize it wasn’t setup for a front sight. Now I either need to sell it or have a gunsmith drill and tap the barrel for a front sight, which voids the warranty as per CVA.

Would sweating/soldering on the front ramp void the warranty? I would not trust epoxy like JB Weld, but it is a thought.

There are also band type sights for shotguns and ARs on the market.

Check out NECG. They make band ramp front sight bases in various barrel diameters and heights. They also make a rear peep sight that fits on Weaver/Picatinny bases.

One thing that sucks on the Paramount is that although it takes Remington 700 scope bases, the side of the receiver where the receiver sight goes has the bolt release.

Side mounted sights don’t work well on a rifle that’s ergonomically set up for scoped shooting. They sit so low that you have to smash your face in the gun to see. This is a good option.

If that base could clamp to a Picatinny rail.... The front sight night have to be really high, but not removing the base when switching between the scope and irons would be cool.

Stuck with having to convert my Paramount to iron sights, I chose to forgo CVA warranty and have my gunsmith tap the muzzle for a Williams sight. I don't shoot hot loads and really not worried I'll need the warranty.

I suppose there is a chance of some blowby gases or primer remnants hitting your face or hand with an overload, pretty much like any other muzzleloader.

Most of them probably loaded a load on top of a load and made a pipe bomb. Since you can't see if it is loaded it would be easy to forget.

Which sight did you end up going with? I am looking to have a gunsmith do the same thing but will any of the Williams sights work?

I ended up having Gunsmith drill and tap for front sight and had to purchase a whole new setup. I went with the Williams precision sight with front globe and bought the additional fiber insert for the globe. It’s a pretty sweet setup. The sight part # is 638778 and the finer fiber I went with has part # 650208. Go to the Williams website. I also called them and service was pretty good. There is a larger fiber but I wanted the finer one.

I run the same setup as in the pic above. My eye does well with the fiber. I also run my vertical adjustment screw just barely loose and have a small piece of paper stuck on the side with yardage marks for the times that I am able to dial

You'll need to experiment with which of the 6 inserts works for your eyes. I started with the fine cross hairs but I couldn't see them very well in dim lighting. I settled on the one with the circle and just need to get back out to the range to determine where the bottom of that circle hits with my gun. Hoping that I can hold center for 100 and bottom for @150.
