GIANT idaho unit 45 deer

Thanks for the post. Good stuff! Handsome buck. Really some good educational info given. Your couple pics with his ears laid fairly flat looks like 24" outside compared to his frame width. I've measured some bucks laying their ears flat like that and sometimes 22", sometimes 23, sometimes 24.

You hit it on the head on that one. If I really stretched out the tape and angled it across a bit I’d get 24.5 for width

This thread has been down for a couple of years and yes I am new member from flat ol Iowa but I hav drawn the unit 45 muzzy tag was hoping for any and all insight.

Thanks in advance.

Follow Cameron Hanes around , he will be outfitted following a couple of my buddies around that have been scouting all summer. It’s a tough hunt, the best advise I can give you is spend time in the unit. I beleive your hunt runs from Oct 1- 15, unit 45 was 105 degrees yesterday. The days of the giants seem to be slipping away. There will be a couple of 200” bucks killed in 45, 180 is a trophy now days, water , patience and Sun screen

I work too damn much to follow any of those “pros” on anything. I already saw the pricing on the only outfitter out there and safe to say not in my budget. Best I got is maybe one trip out there during the summer to scout but most likely going to be show up a few days before season for first time ever and figure it out. Definitely not even dreaming or holding out for a monster like that. I have some toad whitetails on the wall wanting to add some variety if I can😂😂. I was up in Idaho for a failed spring bear hunt with an outfitter so I’m looking forward to failing by myself this time!

A Good friend of mine, a desert rat, killed a 200” With his bow last year, maybe some dumb lucky guy from Iowa will stumble into a monster, you never know. Good luck
