Anyone headed up to Calgary for the Stampede, that starts tomorrow. Not sure if we’ll make it this year but I sure would like to wander the Exhibition Hall. Those giant farm machines are out of this world anymore.

If you’ve never been, you should make at least one trip there in your life. It’s a one of a kind event.

Would love to make it up to Calgary one day. My fam keeps hitting me up for NFR in Vegas, but I’m not sure I want to do that one as much as Calgary.

It wouldn’t be the 4th of July for us without sending time at the St Paul Rodeo. I used to compete there when i was younger and now its just a great way to see friends and family while celebrating the last bit of freedoms we still retain.

I’ve been to both, numerous times and I would not recommend one over the other. Very different venues and equally rewarding. The NFR is so close to us, it’s a no brainer in my opinion. Best of the best compete there. What more needs to be said about that.

Calgary has a great rodeo but the entire environment, on the Stampede Grounds is well worth the trip. So much to see, it takes at least two or three days to take it all in. The Native American performances are spectaculars, the evening Chuck wagon races are wild, music venues everywhere, on and on.

Do both Vanilla, you’ll love it.

There isn’t any rodeo in the world I’d trade for a Lahontan!

I guess I’ll head over to Juab County just for fun next week.

I agree. Do you happen to know the parts manager over at Roger’s Performance
Marine, in North Salt Lake?. If not, you should.

Never been to Calgary but I would like too, would also like to go to Cheyenne.
My wife and I have been married 32 years and been to the NFR I belive 26 of them years, not going this year 3rd and 4th grand kids being borne at that time of the year.
We stay in a condominium complex off of the strip and found some good eating establishment's away from the strip, I don't remember the last time we went into a casino.
I do enjoy the NFR.
I'm planning on getting up to Juab too.

Calgary is not the NFR, it’s a very different experience but you’d love it notdon. It’s an easy trip and I-15 will take you right to the door step. The number on the Highway changes at the border, other than that, you can’t hardly tell you’ve left the U.S.

Haven't been to the NFR the last few years.
Seeing George Strait from row 1 or 2 was always great.
Like us all..................Dude is getting old.

Another Basin Cowboy having a pretty good week is Josh Frost. Really good bull rider, but one of the few cowboys that excell in both ends of the arena. Hope this is his year to win it all. He’s got a good start.🤞🤠

Me to like Josh he set into number 1 right now

Me and the family went to the Philipsburg Kansas rodeo last year. The riding and roping were decent, the interaction between the announcer and the barrelman were lacking. Went to a little county fair rodeo before that and while there wasn't as many rough stock competitors there was a lot of banter between the barrelman and the announcer. The barrelman and a guy from the stands even got into the team roping event.

Also went to a local rodeo Friday night. Not many bronc riders but there were a few bull riders. None of them covered their bull

Like all sports, the athletes are better, the livestock is better, the clown acts are better…….. because the money has gotten much higher for the top end events. Small town rodeos are like small town baseball games, hockey games, football games……. It’s put on without much money and the contestants are not as good as the professions. Still…….. it’s fun to see your kids riding cows, sheep and roping calf’s and goats. Out of those kids a few will go on to the next level. Fun for a family outing.

I have really like watching the ranch rodeo events, as of the last few years. I enjoy seeing the less refined kids competing with less refined rules. Just seems more natural.

I can remember few times when I have had as much fun as the time I was asked to be a judge at a Wrangler jeans wearin' contest. Ladies only, you pervs.

South Texas, maybe 1992 or so. Mmmmmm

Rodeo....my dad convinced this guy to give me bull dogging lessons. He was a very nice guy.

His niece who attended our high school, was a national all around champion. Very pretty girl. Our high school produced 3 national all around high school girls champions, all very sweet girls and very attractive.
