Questions.....Is a quad a must if I plan on hunting the west side of Scofield Res? Are there any decent but not crowded campgrounds near there? Is there also a bull elk hunt going on there at this time? I'd guess there will be. I have been told there may be sheep in certain areas in the unit. Does anyone know typically what areas the sheep will be in? Or is it a get to a drainage and you might see sheep, you might not? Any pointers on hunting this unit? Areas to focus on and NOT waste time in?

Any info is appreciated guys. I am looking to fill the freezer. I will be solo. Thanks!

Hey Steve- Good luck out there. My 12-year-old son drew the same tag this year for his first elk hunt. It looks like this hunt coincides with a spike hunt.

We won't be able to do much more than e-scouting and reading up on it, so for now I will be concentrating on the area south along Skyline--unless anyone knows of a better area. Any advice is appreciated.

You will not be away from people for camping on the northern Manti west of Scofield Reservoir October 5-17.

Good news is there are TONS of places to dry camp in that area, however, so even if there are people, you can feel less crowded.

The best news is there is a lot of elk there too.
