The unit I am in has quite a few trails through it. It feels pretty safe to assume that hikers etc will have deer pushed off the trails a bit. How far do you find that pushes deer on average? I’m sure it’s different everywhere you go.

if the terrain offers some cover close by the deer won’t be too far off. I wouldn’t count on seeing bucks off the main trail but a drainage with no trail in it just 1/4 mile off would easily hold animals.

Thanks that’s what I was expecting. Trying to cut some time e-scouting and making a radius around the trail to try and stay outside if possible
