Nah, Bessy, PH 209.
I went from measuring out Black Powder in my .58 cal/patch/Round ball to the T/C's and Triple 7/Power belt .295 shoots best for sure.
The front site, shooting open sites, dang near blocks out the vitals @ 100 yards, Prolly the whole target @ 250 yards?
I'll never know.

PleaseDeer your post takes me back nearly 50 years.. An old muzzleloader enthusiast by the name of Bill Watts used to come to the rendezvous and win all the ham and turkey prizes. I would guess that was in the late 1970’s and he was in his late 70’s…….. so it’s possible he was born in the late 1800’s. (WOW…. Just saying that makes be feel really old.)
Anyway, Bill sold a black power solvent to clean muzzleloader barrels. The label on the bottle said, “Watts Water” “Bill guarantees he’s peed in every bottle.” I wish I still had a bottle to post a picture.
Bill said he’d been in Army/Military Intelligence and was trained as a sniper. He shot an old English made military muzzleloader, I don’t recall the manufacture but it was not the Zouave, that some of the guys shot, but it looked like one.
First thing he would do when he arrived at a shoot was set out a gong at about 400 yards and then spend the weekend proving he could hit it with open sights.
I had a lot of conversations with Bill, about his military experiences and his shooting techniques.
I said he sighted his open sight rifles in with the target showing “above” the sight. He would place the top of the front sight, immediately under the target, so he could always see the target, regardless how far away it was. He used the same technique at 50 yard targets as well.
I practiced and used this technique for many years, during my Mountain Man period of entertainment. I found it to be a very effective way to target shoot as well as hunt deer and elk. I improved my accuracy significantly.
I thought I would mention this because I have never heard anyone ever mention it on this Forum over the years and with folks having to go back to open sights or 1x scopes, it might be useful for someone.
