I was looking at guided hunts and ran across Bison hunts one caught my eye because it gave a list of the meat you can take home and it was less meat you'd get off a small WT doe. Anyway on these hunts what would they do with the other few hundred pounds of meat? On the other hand what would you do with all the meat if you kill a huge trophy bull that has hundreds of lbs of meat? I seen that outfit will take it to their local butcher he shuts down his business just to handle the Bison business he will have coming in. He’s charging $700 for a small bull and $900 for the old big boy. They say to bring 1 or 2 huge chest freezer I would think a generator would kill everything cold and a couple of huge coolers for head and hide. They also said you could just bring several huge coolers for the meat for the smaller bulls if you didn’t have access to multiple chest freezers. Now what to do with all my meat if I bring it all home?
I don’t think I want to give it to the butcher where he sells it for $10 a pound. I guess I could meet up with some hunters on the way home, give to food pantries as well. Has anyone on here ever had this problem? Around my area a lot a people don’t like wild game and we can only eat so much and I don’t think the food pantries around me would want any.
