Interested in these as well. Tried to send you a pm but the system had technical errors.Landowner tags are about a month out, but I will likely have a couple. I will depend on the landowner draw as to what I get.

This seems to be the going rate in that unit...see just aboveHow much do you charge for a unit 13 UW archery tag?
In 2020 my buddy bought one for 13 Muzzy bull and it was $7000.00. So definitely have gone up.Are these tags still going up in price after taking scopes off muzzle loaders? I figured it would help the average guy and drop the price back to a reasonable amount.
2019 I paid $5500 for a unit wide bull tag. It just is crazy that people are paying this or even asking this much with scopes being taken off muzzles. Really was hoping price would come back down some. Luckily I drew a elk tag this year in New Mexico. If people would quit paying these crazy prices they would have to come down.In 2020 my buddy bought one for 13 Muzzy bull and it was $7000.00. So definitely have gone up.
More guys applied than ever before for the draw this year, and the tags in Unit 15 sell for even more with the same regulations....in a neighboring unit. Are these tags still going up in price after taking scopes off muzzle loaders? I’m sure more will survive because of it. But it also makes the hunt much harder to be successful which I would think turns guys off on the hunt. I won’t be surprised if because of this they add more hunts down the road to make more money. Adding more hunts will kill more elk and we are right back we’re we started with numbers. Only time will tell. It’s just crazy that in 4 years prices have doubled for a 5 day primitive weapon elk hunt. Soon only the rich will be hunting and most Guys will be telling their kids about the days when they use to hunt.More guys applied than ever before for the draw this year, and the tags in Unit 15 sell for even more with the same regulations....in a neighboring unit.
The way I see it, it's going to make those primitive weapon units more desirable. More elk will survive, I would expect them to get older and bigger with no scopes.
People spend the money they do in NM to kill big elk, there are only a few hundred tags per hunt code, max.I’m sure more will survive because of it. You spent $5500 in 2019 for an elk tag. Your definition of rich and other peoples can vary, but I’m gonna wager that 90% of the American population can’t afford to spend that. I’m a free market capitalist so I really don’t care, but complaining that you spent $5500 a few years ago and now only the “rich” can afford the tags isn’t gonna get you much pitty. I bought unit 13 muzzy landowner tags for $2k in 2011-2014. At the time everyone thought I was crazy spending that kind of money and fit the bill of the “rich guy” buying a big elk. It’s all relative.I’m sure more will survive because of it. But it also makes the hunt much harder to be successful which I would think turns guys off on the hunt. Not looking for pitty from anyone. Just stating that the tags the past couple years have far exceeded in price jumps then anything else. Even tho the hunting methods have gotten harder to have a successful hunt killing a animal. Just the world we live in now. Good luck to the guys who buy the tags I hope you find what your after. You spent $5500 in 2019 for an elk tag. And most hunting isn't worse....usually it's actually better. Populations are healthier, better distribution, etc.I can't recall a single hunting species, in any state or country, that is cheaper now than it was at any time previously.
Everything is more expensive and most of it is double or triple the cost of what it was 20+ years ago. And in the vast majority of these hunts, the quality is same or slightly worse in many cases.
My point is the longer you wait, the more you will pay. Waiting around for it to get cheaper is fools gold. Not gonna happen.
NM Elk quality isn’t the same and is about 1/2 as good as it was even 5 years ago. I spend 100 days scouting all these units every year. People are legitimately paying 3x the money for 300-330” type bulls with very minimal chance at 350+. Paying for it at all is what is foolish unless you have a big bull scouted or an outfitter does. Even then with all the hunting pressure your odds of finding that bull and killing it are insanely low.I can't recall a single hunting species, in any state or country, that is cheaper now than it was at any time previously.

I think your last sentence sums it up. Some of us may think it’s crazy to spend $10-12k to shoot a 300-320 bull, but that’s just “good ol days” syndrome. The fact of the matter is, those kind of bulls are just what you get for that kinda money anymore. The deseret in Utah is pushing $30k for their hunts for the same type of bulls. You can shoot raghorns in northern NM on $5-7k tags now and you can spend $25-40k for places that you MIGHT have a chance at a 360-380 bull but even then nothing is a guarantee unless you go to Rulon Jones place.NM Elk quality isn’t the same and is about 1/2 as good as it was even 5 years ago. Some people have money and they just buy them because they can. I can understand that.
Elk tags won’t go down. Dwindling supply and continued increase in demand. Too much money in the upper tiers of society.Inflation has been a ***** the last few years, but spending this kind of money on elk tags will be one of the 1st things to go. You will see a lot more of these tags trying to get sold later in the fall for discounts in the next year or two. The cash crunch for items like this is just starting. If people don't believe luxury items are going to plummet they are not paying attention .
And it's not just the upper tiers of people. Plenty of regular working class people say, I'll save some money for a couple years, or do this instead of another vacation. Or it's a once in a lifetime trip.Elk tags won’t go down. Dwindling supply and continued increase in demand. Too much money in the upper tiers of society.

Can you PM me your contact info, or allow me to PM you? I may want a tag in the future. I'm good for this year. And most hunting isn't worse....usually it's actually better. Populations are healthier, better distribution, etc.
Landowners are more tolerant, more B&C entries, etc
Not true for everything, but for many game animals it is

You’re ? right. No way to compete with people from Texas. The Texas economy is ranked 9th in the world. New Mexico is 45th in the United States.Wishful thinking. Personal finance is what I do for a living. There’s so much wealth out there. It’s shocking. This recession will not put a dent in the demand for elk tags. Inflation is coming back down too. Interest rates don’t affect individuals who are flush with cash. A restricted supply and inelastic demand is a recipe for constant price increases. Get used to it. The only way to beat it is to make more money. That’s the unfortunate reality.
Sure there is! If you are in New Mexico offer money and something rural land owners are lacking, labor maybe. Trade some help on the ranch or be creative in another way. Use your local advantage. You’re ? right. No way to compete with people from Texas. The Texas economy is ranked 9th in the world. New Mexico is 45th in the United States.
You’re very optimistic which is good. Use what you have but I don’t think you’re going to get far with “labor” when a rancher knows he can make 20k on one elk tag.Sure there is! Maybe you get it at 1/2 price and or 1/3 and figure out another way to add value that a Texan can't. Get creative if you don't have the money, and find a way.
Also you forget that most of these tags are already spoken for by Outfitters. They only want money and bartering is out of the question in most casesSure there is! There is no doubt it's a lot, no matter where you are from. It's also what a lease in Indiana cost or a cheap lease in Texas. You’re very optimistic which is good. Use what you have but I don’t think you’re going to get far with “labor” when a rancher knows he can make 20k on one elk tag.
Personally I’ve bought three unit wide bull tags in NM. $5000-$8500. I am a resident. It’s a lot more money than you think and they are only going up by the 1000s of dollars every year.
Looks like Unit 13 will be in the $10 to $12k range this year for anything Bull....so archery or muzzleloader.
Cows with probably be a little north of $1000.
I will probably have a couple Unit 12 also.
