Trump Verdict

It will be overturned by the Supreme Court, no question. It was such a sham trial.

I wish there would be some recourse for the judge in this case but we know that won’t happen. It’s akin to bringing 2A laws into court knowing they will get overturned….the people bringing them should be held accountable, this judge should be no different.

I agree that this will be overturned. This kind of thing has no place in our country. This is something that would happen in Venezuela or Russia.
 
Trump will never see a day on prison.
Sadly it will effect the 2024 election, and that is what they set out to do. This verdict will not change many votes nationally but it will help Biden in the swing states.

You’re joking right? 6th amendment, judges obvious bias with daughter working for dems fundraising, didn’t even state the charge until the end of the trial, a federal charge brought by a state after the feds even declined to prosecute the case, etc, etc, etc. Even democrats legal scholars on CNN of all places said this was a sham.

I don’t know where you get your news but you need to dig deeper from more sources than msn.
 
It might be kind of awkward having Trump as President while he's in prison. That might happen if Biden is the only other choice.

So tell me oh great one, why did they have to change the law to bring a misdemeanor out from the statute of limitations and turn it into a felony? Why did the fed govt decline to prosecute, saying it wasn’t prosecutable?

They still haven’t said what the second crime was to make this all happen! Grizz, even your favorite Demonrat legal scholars think it’s a sham.

So, will this new law be used to indict Clinton for paying off his whore? What about Hillary paying for the fake dossier using “legal” aka campaign funds? I’m sure those charges are coming, ha.

Maybe we should have the Clinton’s and Biden’s charges brought to a place like Wyoming for a fair trial. I’m sure you’d have no qualms with that, right?

It was just repeated again by several former fed prosecuters, talking about the case, the second charge that made this whole “crime” possible is still unknown.

The judge’s daughter raises funds for dems and the judge himself donated to Biden.

The falsifying of business records is a misdemeanor. That charge has happened many, many times.

If it's done in furtherance of a crime, it's a felony.

The second crime was the fact the payments were done to influence an election. That makes it an election crime and thus the business records charge is enhanced to a felony.

Nobody disputed the payments, and the handwritten notes from Trump's accountant and corresponding check stubs make that portion ironclad.

Paying hush money isn't inherently illegal. The fact that Pecker testified he met with Trump and was specifically directed to influence the election appears to be what closed the case. Pecker's testimony is the portion the jury asked to hear again, along with the jury instructions.

It was the intent portion that could have sunk the case. The jury unanimously decided beyond a reasonable doubt that bar had been met.

That jury went with the statements of the main witness's against Trump. Cohen and the female stripper even after their creditability as a honest witness was destroyed in court by the defense.
Costello, who was Cohen's attorney at a previous time testified that he asked Cohen numerous times if he had any criminal violations on Trump and Cohen told his attorney, Costello, "NO, I do not have any criminal violations on Trump and that testimony was ignored by the Jury.
The Democrat judge even tried to taint Costello's statements by agreeing to numerous objections by the prosecution attorney.
It seems the prosecution did a very good job of picking a bias jury and Judge to hear the case.

I actually more or less agree. I also think every politician we’ve had for years has done the same and worse. This is in my opinion this is Going to set a president for attacking political rivals through the doj. It’s going to get real weird for a long time. I do not agree with the verdict but what do I know.

It was a Newsweek article citing an opinion piece by Fox Analyst Gregg Jarrett. Key word being OPINION! Jarrett is not purporting to report news. Actually, Costello was presented with his own emails where he was discussing with Giuliani how to keep Cohen in Trump's camp. It furthered the conspiracy and was damning for Trump

Why do you have that assumption? I’ve long said I actually don’t care about this case and felt it never should have been filed. It does feel the most “politically motivated” out of all of his cases, and it’s the least likely one for me to care about. Hence, why I don’t pay close attention.

I’m a bit cautious when I see people downgrading the judicial and justice system, however.

It’s not lost on me that the left has spent much of the last 3 years trying to get America to not trust the SCOTUS and the system. They have used many of the tactics I’m seeing used here today by those on the right. So my hackles are up a bit warning me to read any of this with a skeptical eye. Lots of people simply want what they want and will use ridiculous arguments to justify it.

I just want the truth.
 
The FEC declined to prosecute the case.
The U.S. Attorneys office declined to prosecute the case.
The charging document did not specify the 2nd crime (the one that the prosecutor pretzeled into a felony from a misdemeanor with an expired statute of limitations)
The judge didn't allow former FEC Chair to testify about past decisions of the FEC.
A myriad of conflicts of interest from the judge & his family.
More than a few great legal minds on both sides predict this will get tossed.

I'm no Trump fan but this accomplished exactly what they set out to do, label Trump a convicted felon before the election and keep everything about Trump 24/7.
We won't be debating/discussing inflation, economy, interest rates, housing/rent costs, cost of living, education, debt, deficit, taxes, Ukraine/Israel funding, China, trade, energy, the fact that Biden just authorized Ukraine to use U.S. weapons on targets inside of Russia... etc.
TRUMP 24/7 not issues that Americans care about.

Division & power is the Dem. priority. The damage is done.

This will get dealt with in the appellate process, likely long after the election is over.

I agree! Let’s not pretend that this isn’t the tactic of the GOP these days as well. These two parties are running master classes right now in manipulation and fear tactics. It’s been a heavy weight fight where each party sees the success of the other and responds with “hold my beer!”

Pretty sad what our politics have become. I still believe in our country though! It can survive this.

If that’s true then why isn’t Biden, Hunter, Myorkas, Garland, Pelosi, etc all impeached or in jail? Why? With the recent email leaks why isn’t Faucci on trial?

That won’t happen until….well, civil unrest. I hate to say it but history repeats itself and we are too young of a country to not have another civil war coming soon.

let me ask you a question. If this was a jury of his peers, do you think the same outcome would have happened in Florida? Ohio? Wyoming? Texas?

Nobody has answered this and it’s been asked multiple times…why didn’t the feds prosecute him? I’ll answer it because THEY said there wasn’t enough there to make a case!

I’ve admitted it multiple times that I don’t like Trump. I also wont be crying for Biden.

Your OJ argument is backwards. OJ’s high dollar attorneys convinced the jury he didn’t do it because his blood soaked glove shrunk and didn’t fit. Trumps attorneys couldn’t offer anything that good to defend him.

The feds might not have seen a case at that time. I’m guessing more evidence was found. Obviously, there was a case.

I will say this is definitively the most petty of his cases. The two tierd justice system has been played enough to keep the real cases hidden from public view.

This nugget you mentioned has largely gone unnoticed today, by design of this administration. Just like they always do, release important decisions on Fridays or when other news is dominating. Loser Biden making another wrong decision like Obama’s adviser said…..wrong on every foreign policy issue.

Trump should just plead mentally incompetent like Biden so he isn’t charged with anything. Obviously brain dead doesn’t disqualify someone from running.

My comment about OJ was that people on a jury can be influenced and pressured.

So I just heard, in contrast to good old guru @grizzly, a former fed prosecutor on CNN say again that Trumps legal team didn’t know until the very end what the legal allegations were against him and the judge didn’t explain the legal allegations to the jury until the very end. On top of that, he also said the jury doesn’t have to come to a unanimous decision on the second, underlying crime….clearly in violation of a Supreme Court decision….Rainbow vs Louisiana.

Go listen to people who have the court transcripts/ were there and are actual federal prosecutors. Megan Kelly has 3 lawyers on discussing this case reading directly from testimony/judges words.

That certainly would not fly in Utah. Our criminal jury verdicts require unanimity not only in the result, but in the conduct you’re finding guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. We have appellate case law on that here.

I would be surprised if New York is not the same. That would be a real issue for a unanimous jury verdict if that was the instruction. I’ll see what I can find. As you might guess, finding ACTUAL details on this and not just pontification from newly crowned constitutional scholars based upon reading a couple articles from their favorite website is not easy.

This is the 6th amendment violation I was referring to above, flies directly in violation of Supreme Court decision in Rainbow va Louisiana.

What you are over looking is that D.A. Bragg, a Democrat can walk over to the voter registration office and whisper in the ear of a fellow Democrat in that office, "here is the jury list of names that will be called, find out which ones are registered as Democrats and the ones that are Republican", and nobody would be wise to the deceit by Bragg. I leave it up to your pea brain which jury members would get dismissed by the prosecution attorney for one reason or another.
Trump's attorneys would not have the power to do that as Bragg could and get away with it.
