WY Elk Unit 99 Semi guided

I’m looking to see if anyone has a semi guided elk hunt in Elk Unit 99 WY or if I can piggyback off a guided camp camp where I hunt on my own. I’m trying to find a way to hunt The Wilderness areas as a non-resident without breaking the bank. Any help?

no outfitter is going to help you considering thats still illegal with what your wanting to do

You have to actually be in the company of a guide or resident. You can't just go into the wilderness with a guide camp. So that would mean it would be fully guided if you went with a guide. Your best bet would be to find a resident to hunt with based on what you're asking. Don't think any outfitter is going to break the law for you.

Hunting 99 and not being able to hunt the Wilderness would be similar to when your HS girlfriend told you "just the tip". The temptation is just too much to handle.

99 is a great unit, the wilderness area is a decent chunk of the elk area but there's plenty of area outside of it. I shot mine a few years back maybe 500 yards outside of it. The weather can push them down or they just wander out of it. There's plenty of huntable terrain without the wilderness. Mine ended up taping out to 314" if that makes you feel any better about the regular national forest area. There's some good remote stuff outside. Great tag and awesome area......except the blow down......

Its a pretty good antelope area! Although, I have seen elk all the way to highway 191. They usually clear out of that low country once those antelope guys start popping. Be careful not to shoot one of those wild horses!
