Wide elk

I know that elk are usually thought of as how wide they are, but i was just wondering what the widest elk you guys have heard of is.
Thanks

The widest one I have ever measured was 54" inside. I'm sure there are many a lot wider, but I bet they average about 42" for big bulls.

I know a guy who shot one in Washington with his bow that was well over 60".

I have heard of few elk that are wider than 60" but have never heard of one wider than 70".

I measured one shot in Washington that was 63" outside. Unreal. In the book there was only two I could find with wider spreads. Then I talked to a guy here in MT that measured one (I cant remember for sure) like 67" INSIDE spread?? Freak.

13" ....... :)

This Pennsylvania bull I took pics from the State refuge's webcam in 2016 is hands down the widest bull I've ever "seen". Best I can tell he's over 70" but I don't think he got killed that year and never heard anything to confirm that width.

I'll bid 71 inches, Bob.

I am sorry but that is one ugly bull. I am sure somebody would be happy with him.

There's not a tag on the planet that I wouldn't punch the first minute of the first day of the season with that bull.
Well, there you go....you're the "somebody". LOL. I am sure lots of peeps like the freak'ish animals like that. It's just not what I prefer.

How the hell you gonna fit that mount in your mobile home though?

The velvet picture was posted here on MM several years ago. I was in Wyoming antelope hunting in 2015 and actually saw the bull alive. I think the velvet picture is from the previous year. Very unique that's for sure.

He is definitely another one that looks over 70". It sounds too ridiculous when I say/type it, but when I measure out the heads and extrapolate the widths on that bull and the one I posted from PA, I reach 80" all too easily. Just incredible animals

Reminds me of a bull on UT Monroe unit a few years back. This Monroe bull had a rack that grew out, not up. I'm not sure how he ever moved around the mountain with all the timber.

Cool looking bulls.

It’s been at least 20 years ago, there was a bull in the Grazing Pasture on the Boobie Hole, across from the Monroe that layed out as flat as a 2 x 4 on both sides. Only one I’ve ever seen.
