2014 Utah Mountain Goat. I will hold off on posting the unit on the open forum but the unit is nowhere near what it was ten years ago now. Good luck in your quest, they are amazing animals.

You have to really **** up to mess up mountain goat numbers. There isn’t a big game animal in NA more hardy than a goat.

Yeah I seriously thought she was a billy and passed her up. Came back a few hours later heading back to the truck and she had a grown kid trying to suck from her so she got the boom. The kid ratted her out.

I took this photo in 2015 on the beaver while deer hunting. The next day I ran into a goat tag holder who was real discouraged and that day I saw this same goat bed down above the trail. I help the guy work in and kill him. The goat was a book goat and received some awards but I’m not sure exactly what is was. Had everything you’d want in a goat. Excellent hair, heavy horns, 10 year old billy.

I drew in 2022. I drew a ton of incredible tags that year and wish I had spent a little more time down there soaking it up. Killed a 9 1/8” billy but was rushed doing it. Really cool experience. Probably the easiest goat hunting known to man down there!

Awesome!! Thanks to all for sharing. Some great goats in there! I can wait. I've heard the Willard peak unit has suffered some disease issues as well as over-kill. Hopefully it will bounce back in time. Course this last winter I'm sure didn't help with things either.

NR in CO and NR with lifetime license in AZ. About 1:300 in CO and 1:80 in AZ. The Utah mtn goat tag was 1:1300. I was like Rusty on Vegas Vacation. “I put in a dollar, won a car. Put in a dollar, won a car!”

Pretty hair on that one. Remember your story and reason for not shooting it. Don’t think I would have. ?? they make beautiful mounts. And being once in a lifetime in the lower 48 makes it even harder.

Great looking goat!! Uintas is my number two spot right now for hopes to draw that tag. we spend a few trips up in that are camping and what not every year anyway.

I never did get him officially scored but we scored him just over 50". I can't remember length for sure seemed like really close to 10"

50” to make the all time B&C book. For reference my got was 52 4/8 gross 52 2/8 net - 10 6/8” and 10 7/8” length. He would have be the same on both side but he chipped a tip on the roll down the mountain.

I entered him, he was #3 in Utah at the time but I don’t know if anyone has bumped him back since then. He was #8 in the world in the 29th B&C edition and the largest goat in the lower 48 killed for that edition 2013-2015. I do not know how he ranks in the all time world book. I do not have that book. If someone has access to that book I would be interested to see where he ranks. Good luck in your pursuit, it is a dream hunt.

Yes, horrible. 32 miles on horse total. I was determined to get him with my open sight muzzleloader, but it didn't work out with the snow. Rough hunt but very rewarding.

I know of about 40-50 Goats in an area that is still not a legal hunt unit. Not sure why they have not issued a few tags yet, but this area could really use a couple tags to help with point creep and open more opportunity.
