Well, we’re coming up on a year since we lost our friend Tony. I looked back thru my messages with (about) him but can’t seem to find exactly when he passed.

My next to the last message from him said “I feel fine, except for the …..”. RIP my friend. :)

I hope to be back posting pics of silly critters soon. In the meantime, my wife found this yesterday 10 steps out the backdoor that I go out 100 times a day.:cautious:

The day we were there for the changing of the watch, they dropped this magazine. You can see it by the soldiers foot. Acted like it was part of the show. At least I think it was a mag?

I don’t know anything about turkeys either, but there’s a little pink nipple looking thingy left when the beard gets ripped off. It looks like it grows back like a lizard tail.

Sticking with birds, I mentioned a while back that it looked like our swallows might not come back. They were just late, and they even brought along some new guys I’ve never seen before, named Violet-green Swallows.

First assignment in Alaska. No fires yet so I took full advantage of my free time off shift. Caught a bunch of Arctic Grayling on the fly, looking for moose and found what looked like a mountain lion kill site which produced a bear carcass. Don’t think it was a lion kill but instead probably a bear died and washed downstream and buried a bit. Never found the skull, yet.
