Same here, hoping my app strategy pays off around the 15th!!I'm in. Winter wasn't bad everywhere. Besides, I don't fill tags unless it's a mature animal. Haven't killed a muley in Wyoming for 10-15 years. If I see one I like, he could be in trouble. I'm going hunting.
? you get a tag!I pulled the trigger, just shifted from my desired unit . Was holding out for deer in unit 100 to deer in Central Wyoming.
Sometimes the best hunts are watching others pull the trigger.I really wanted to apply but I too passed since I have 3 pretty major hunts that will take some serious time.
2 sheep and 1 elk and none of them are mine. Looks like a guide kind of a year for me except for muzzleloader deer with one of my grandsons.
Zeke
With the tag cuts in H I doubt 5 will get a tag. Good luck in the draws!I thought long and hard about using 5 points for H, especially since CO didn't pan out for me. In the end I stuck with my plan and tried for a different hunt.
Maybe not, but better chance than what I put in for. With the tag cuts in H I doubt 5 will get a tag. Good luck in the draws!
Same hereI passed but having a couple tags already made the decision much easier.
I should as I put in with Max Points , wanna bring some salmon, looking for a camp cook. I hear you are pretty good behind the glass as a bonus . Hope you get the tags you're looking for SS. Blessings? you get a tag!
No better way to ensure you’ll see a giant buck that you could have killed. ??I did not apply for deer in WY as a NR for the first time in many, many years. Simply for the fact that I have a WY elk tag, and want to focus on that.
I jealous. Im in for 128 with one less than max. Only because I missed one year when the system changedI'm in for 128 deer with max NR points.
Even in the special draw I'm betting the draw odds are around 15%. Not a slam dunk by any means.I jealous. Im in for 128 with one less than max. Only because I missed one year when the system changed
Five less NR tags this year in 128. That's going to make it a tough draw for sure.128 with max points. hopefully a lot of people assumed the winter was awful everywhere and the odds get better.
Same here. Best of luck in the draws!I put in for everything. Reason is because I like to hunt
Yep. Regular should get 6 (vs 9 last year) tags and special 4 (vs 6 last year) tags. I'm not sure if they round on the max points or random tags, but should leave 4-5 regular and 3 special tags to top points. Random gets 1-2 regular and 1 special. No way applicants will drop enough to make up for that. Also, that will slow clearing of the 128 holdout top pool.Five less NR tags this year in 128. That's going to make it a tough draw for sure.
Good luck!
Might not be a slam dunk with max points. But if drawn you will have a great hunt. We still always put in for a random tag. ????Even in the special draw I'm betting the draw odds are around 15%. Not a slam dunk by any means.
It's not worth it...But you are going to do it??? What is the better option for a low pressure rut hunt in Wyoming? Good luck in the draw ?!That in itself will help clear the pool . if the draw odds get bad enough guys will apply somewhere else, I've hunted 128 twice and it's probably my favorite hunt I've ever done. but in reality it's not worth the points it takes now and it's certainly not worth another 20 years of trying. but I will.
The tag cuts will only make it better for those who do draw so it's all good.
My wife is gonna draw 128 as a resident this year... can't wait... should be an awesome hunt...
We will see how this ages in a week! Haha
All the more reason to hunt when you can as often as you can with those you care about. Good luck in the draws. Hope you and your wife have some great hunts ahead of you.I put in and drew a late elk tag this year...a hunting buddy and I had 14 points last year. We had planned buying another point due to some health issues he was experiencing and month after the draw deadline in February he unexpectedly took his own life. I decided to buy points again last fall and to just use my elk points this year and go alone. I'm @ 20 pts for deer in AZ and applied for a Kaibab tag this year I'll buy sheep and deer points again this fall and my wife and I another antelope pt in WY.
I don't want to spoil this thread, I'm much more conscious of mental health issues than ever before. This guy was married 40 yrs, no kids and was worth a cajillion dollars, he had just closed on a 1000 acre ranch in S Texas. We hunted and fished together the last 30 yrs.
It's brought home the whole idea of that we never really know about someone we are really close to until you stand in their moccasins.
Good luck to each of you this coming fall and make those memories count.
I wonder if that one could be related to the 128 buck I got. Really fun hunt, first year of points. The points did not help me draw and I'm at (max-1). As much as I would like 128 again, I applied to draw something I probably can draw this year.Might not be a slam dunk with max points. But if drawn you will have a great hunt. We still always put in for a random tag. ????
I hunted 8 or 9 days in 128 last year with a buddy. It was fun seeing a lot of deer, but quality was ho-hum. As far as the experience, lots of hunters everywhere. The hard to hunt places are no longer a secret, so luck plays a lot in your success. The scenery is eye pleasing, but that can be found in many places. The quality isn't worth the points. the experience is.
I got the email last year for draw results from the WGFD on June 14th. But I don't remember if that was early or not?Does anyone remember if they posted the draw results 2 days early last year?
I know NR elk has been posted 2 days ahead of schedule for the last two years.
Awesome, the 2022 Application Book listed June 16th as the tentative draw date.I got the email last year for draw results from the WGFD on June 14th. But I don't remember if that was early or not?
Apps due on Tuesdays, results on Thursdays; last years results 2 days earlyI got the email last year for draw results from the WGFD on June 14th. But I don't remember if that was early or not?
Me tooMakes no difference to me if I'm disappointed on Tuesday or Thursday
Most of my hunting buddies call it "D" day.Makes no difference to me if I'm disappointed on Tuesday or Thursday
They will....on ThursdayLet's go!!!!
Post away Wyoming!!!
I appreciate your logic at this point in my career.I tried to talk myself out of it, then I tried to talk myself of the area I wanted. Wasn’t easy but I made a game time decision and stuck with plan A….nothing else I’ll have a damn good excuse if I come up short
Made it easier to go to 90/10 they just setup the increase in revenue for it90/10 won't happen anytime soon. Buzz and his buddies should be here soon to say I'm wrong.
No I'm not from Wyoming, yes I understand why the Res want 90/10, I would too most likely. The problem is WYOGA doesn't care what R or NR want.
Once they increased price for NR it made it harder to go to 90/10 IMO.
In my opinion now that they have had that money increase they're not going to want to lose it.Made it easier to go to 90/10 they just setup the increase in revenue for it
I don't think applications will change. Hunt quality maybe but applications will stay roughly the same it not maybe go up a little.I’m curious how this will all play out next couple of years. Will they cut more tags next year? Will the winter kill be so bad that most hunter will just stop putting in? Or this opportunity for those that don’t have enough points to apply for units that are high demand? Will the Wyoming sit on the 90/10 for general tags for a couple of years? Will WYOMING increase tags to off set tag reduction?
We focus on trophy elk, mule deer, antelope and moose hunts and take B&C bucks most years.
