I was able to book a last minute bear hunt for a crazy deal just a couple weeks ago. We had a great week of hunting and I was able to kill one good bear, and one really good bear.

Nice you were able to go to Alberta for a great adventure. Those are beauties ! Thank you fir sharing CF ! Did they travel far or drop quickly ? Is that a 300WM or a .338 ?

Awesome-both great looking bears but that second one is an absolute tank!

Any ideas on weight and skull size yet?

It’s a 7 PRC. So far I’ve owned that gun for about a month, and it’s killed 5 bears. They’ve all made it 7-30 yards, and we’re 1 shot kills. I’ve been very impressed with it so far.

No idea on weight, but the skull on the big one is high 19’s. No matter what I do I can’t seem to break 20”. Haha
It’s crazy-Canada bears have big pumpkin looking heads but their skulls aren’t always that big relatively. They must get pretty fat up there.

Utah bears don’t always have the pumpkin head but generally have pretty good skull size.

I don't know about Idaho as the hunters get eaten lol

My Saskatchewan bear from last year had an even bigger looking head, but his skull was only high 19’s as well. Canada has put quite a few in the book, but there’s a lot that just fall short. Utah does seem to have really good skull genetics.

So I take it you are carpeting your home with bear rugs...from your 7PRC? ;)
I’ve got my first bear rugged, a life size in the works, and the rest are piled up in the basement. My cousin keeps telling me I need to do something with them so I keep threatening that I’m going to start turning them into loin cloths I’ll wear while bear hunting. Haha

Well, apparently I don’t know how to measure. I was just adding my Montana bear from last year to my pile of skulls and decided to remeasure my Saskatchewan bear with calipers this time, and came up with 20 2/8”.

That’s a great bear-congrats man!
