Kodiak goat hunt

My brother and I are looking to hunt kodiak for first time. We are looking to go mid February, we are flexible on dates his wife works for Alaska airlines. We are planning to use island air. 7-8 days camping, have watched every YouTube video I could find, a lot of guys hunting above cabin in deadman’s bay. He has talked with biologist and couple transporter’s. Dropped a bunch of money on gear already 4 season tent and other kodiak essentials! Would appreciate opportunity to talk with anyone who has experienced this hunt before. My brother has harvested a goat in BC and I have a Billy from central Idaho. He’s coming from Fairbanks and I’ll be coming from Idaho. PM or call 208-412-6727 thanks Mark

Learning curve for sure! Had good hunt figured out what worked and what will do differently next. My brother was not in Goat shape and got beat up pretty good. Canned whole Goat came out good, no such thing as a tough piece of meat when you can it

Back again same time same place. Fat boy dropped 30lbs we had much better hunt! We ditched the hilleberg tent and low profile cots for cabelas 8-man guide tent and full size cots. Only rained couple days, more snow than last year. Saw one brown bear and quite a few deer. Two Billy’s and a Nanny.

@2lumpy yes you can shoot 4 goats per hunter in that area. Two in spring and two in fall.

Not 100% sure but I think it’s only 2 per calendar year

Alaska doesn’t go by calendar year. Our regs go July to July. So you could shoot more this fall.

Regulatory year instead of calendar year. So, I could go back in fall but then I wouldn’t be eligible in spring if I harvested, correct? You couldn’t shoot 4 in back to back years? I’m pretty savvy on western regs, Alaska has a lot things no one else has!
