When draw results came out I was thinking it was going to be a good year of hunting, but man it was a great month of hunting. My wife's hunt was first. She drew her first bow hunt. She practiced everyday for 45 straight days. When the moment came she made a perfect 45 yd shot. I was very proud of her. The packout about killed her but she did it and did it well. I asked her right after if she wanted to do it again and she said it is like labor, the thought of doing it again right now does not sound good. That feeling went away and she is wanting to do it again.
Next was my son's Bighorn Ewe tag. This is the hunt that made me get in shape. We were very excited about this hunt. He was so excited. He didn't care for a second that it was a ewe tag. All he would keep saying is that he gets to go Bighorn Sheep hunting. We packed in on horses and he was able to harvest a beautiful ewe. He couldn't have been happier and I couldn't have been happier for him.
Next came my hunt. I drew a muzzloader tag for elk. I had never killed a bull elk and was hoping this was the year. Luckly the elk were still making noise and I was fortunate enough to FINALLY kill my first bull.
We now have very full freezers and a lifetime of memories. Never could I have imagined a month of hunting like that. It was back to back to back success all within a months time. We still have a couple tags left so hopefully those go well. Good luck to everyone else on their remaining hunts.
