Just wondering if anyone has had some early success on the speedsters here yet, (obviously stick flippers)?
Also wondering how the herds/quality is looking?
I got lucky and drew in the random with 3 points this year (obviously NR), drew the tag in 2018 with a buddy averaging at 8 points. Great hunt!!!
Not looking for spots to start, or a spot in general, just looking for overall consensus, if any? I know where I’m going to hunt. Just haven’t had time to get over there yet to see how it looks.
Thanks in advance, good luck to everyone with tags in there pockets!

Cant speak to 95 exactly but the lopes are weird this year compared to the last few... They seem really scattered and spread out in the areas I am hunting. I am not sure if it is because the range is in a little better condition or not... But areas where I have not see n lopes the last few years have several, areas where they were more concentrated in the past have fewer... Still same over all numbers just spread out a lot more...

Good to know, thanks!
When I hunted it in 2018, it was kind of a mix of groups, and of course it seemed the more mature bucks were more scattered for sure.
Another general question for you, or anyone who has knowledge, what do the levels look like in the “catch basins”/“reservoirs/”tanks”?
Thanks again!

Ok, thank you! Was wondering if I needed to focus closer to the Gorge, but sounds like I can hit some of the off the beaten paths I like…
Thanks again!

I was up @ Da Gorge the week of 08-08 scouting for the Utah bow elk opener, and I took an afternoon drive over into 95 (I've drawn it twice) and like stated above with all the rain and vicious thunderstorms, there is plenty of standing water.

I saw a couple of nice bucks too

Thanks!
Hope you had some success on your elk hunt.

There's not really any "honey holes" for goats. No telling where you might find the big guy. 95 is a goat-rich unit. You've hunted it before, you know the drill. Have a great hunt
Goat rich for sure! Cover a lot of ground, and look through hundreds of bucks…
I had heard the unit was down quite a bit a couple years back since I hunted it, and I was just wondering what people are seeing this year? It sounds like they’ve recovered pretty good, and it should be a pretty close repeat of my 2018 hunt. Hope the result is the same, as I was able to find a big guy… Getting pretty excited!
Thanks!

Thought I’d share…
Not near as many bucks, pretty scattered. Found a group of bucks in one area, rutting a doe pretty hard. So fun to watch the dominant buck run all the others off, and then try to find the doe again ?
The buck I killed actually got run off by the dominant buck, but the dominant buck had a busted prong, or he might have been in trouble. We didn’t see much of the buck I killed at first because he was run off so quick. Glad we found him again, because he’s a bit better than the other.

Congratulations great goat! You made the right choice not passing on him. How many did you pass before deciding on this one ?

I looked through about 30 bucks before taking this one. I was only there from 5:30pm the night before, to 10:30am the next morning when I decided to take him. There were only two others that I told myself I’d come back too…
