What in the crap does this have to do with hunting, and why is it needed before I can purchase a tag off the leftover list?

The male or female part has to line up with the identification used to track hunter CID numbers and such. Again, what does race have to do with hunting and why is CPW responsible for coming up race educational programs that resonates with all Coloradans?

Probably so they can identify you in the field as the person you say you are on your licence so people aren't out there printing their own. But that's just a guess
 
One problem is they pose the question right before being able to add the tag to the cart while trying to purchase leftover tags that are sold on a first come first serve basis off the re-issue list. People who have already answered the question don’t have to, nor do people standing at the counter of a sales agent giving them the way better chance at purchasing the tag with one less step. But, the biggest problem is it shouldn’t have anything to do with Colorado Parks and Wildlife. I certainly seem like the odd man out here but I’m really bothered there is one more government agency wanting to know my race before they’ll allow me to purchase a freaking hunting license after I have been a resident here since 2006…

That has nothing to do with it. Race doesn’t ID you. It’s because they are a blue state and they need to show equality and compassion to all races in every government activities. Colorado has “woke” up.
 
I don’t see what the big deal is. Your asked this question on 90% of the things you do these days. If you don’t what them to know check other and make something up.

To be clear how I feel. If a black/Latino/Asian Republican is running for President in 2024 against a white Biden, I will be voting for the nonwhite candidate.
But I also believe that making everything about race only divides us more.

I also have no problem if this question is asked when you are creating a profile/ account. But to ask it when you are later racing against the clock to purchase a tag is a bit much

Colorado will no doubt the first to do that. Set-aside tags for constituent groups. Maybe that’s how they will ban scopes in Utah - the economically disadvantaged don’t have fair access.

I could get elected in this state if I wanted a chitty job :ROFLMAO:

I remember the Shepard tragedy- and it was a terrible event in Laramie's history. Nobody deserves that.

That said- there is a HUGE difference between being xxx-phobic, and hating the woke craziness that has overtaken much of the country. When someone vents about 13 choices on a form, it's because it's gotten to the point that if you decide you are a turtle, you can get it on some government form. It's just nuts.
 
Yeah I remember this horrible tragedy that reminds me to call people names that call other people names but somehow they are murderers or support murder and I'm better than them because my names are politically correct.

What a hero. I think more people should be worried about the real problem. A declining population of real men in this country. Grow some thicker skin if you wanna be "different". There's men in this country that commit suicide because of ptsd and other real problems that they didn't give themselves. Most guys at my job say some of the above or worse daily and it's always been that way because that's just the way it is when you work with a bunch of men we laugh and joke and carry on if it offends you go work at Walmart with the other "woke" people and dye your hair too. There's still a place for men in this country.

Iowan. Not all heterosexual men are like that. You will be welcome at my campfire any time. Who you are attracted to and who you choose as a partner is YOUR business. Doesn’t bother me a bit. Currently have a gay woman working for me. Have had gay men work for me. And just had lunch with a gay couple (women) that my wife and I are friends with. They both worked for me in the past as my office managers at different times. They are still my friends. Heck they are a big reason I will be having a financially comfortable retirement! Just offered them the use of my Colorado cabin.

I do not dislike the Colorado Governor and his partner because they are gay. I dislike their political ideals and policies. I am a veterinarian and the woman that he appointed to the veterinary board (an anti-hunter animal rights wacko) is a good example of that. But I would never call them names.

My Dad would have ripped me a new one if I ever said anything racist or anything bad about a gay person. In spite of what some people have said about my comments above, I stand by them. And IMO they are not racist. I see issues differently than some people, maybe different than you, but if you think my points are not valid, argue the issue, I will listen and have been know you change my mind. But when someone reads 1 post and call me ignorant and a racist, all intelligent discourse stops.

I dislike people thinking their sexuality is my business and I don't trust anyone who thinks their sexuality is their identity.

Quite honestly I don't know if I've hired gay people. I don't know if they are staying at my summer retreat. I don't know whether I am sharing a campfire with them.

Because when I work and camp and eat dinner no shallow attention whore brings up what they do sexualy. If you feel like you need to bring up your sexuality when you are a guest of someone or at a job get out of my house, or my office. You have a lot of growing up to do.

That article makes way more sense then the case ever did to me. I remember it well, and I remember thinking, wow, that sounds real personal and extreme for just a random attack because someone’s gay.

Check "prefer not to identify" even easier.

Lots of people want to keep their heritage and traditions alive and are free to identify that through ethnicity on a form.
 
LOL. Ya, I learnt to read too- required skill to get that degree from U Wyo (even if it wasn't in the fields of education or forestry management).

I will give CPW credit (original post topic)- they ACTUALLY state why they are requiring the information. Now one might question if it's a good use of CPW funds, but I'll leave that to the fine people of Colorado.

Where I get concerned is when you are required to answer gender or race questions with no reason stated. In the old days, those kinds of questions had to do with identification. Clearly that is no longer the case. Those critical thinking skills I honed so sharply at UW make me wonder if they are used for reasons I might not be inclined to appreciate.

I don’t see myself as white, which is why I do my very best to treat everyone the same. From the white/ brown/black and even gay people that I work with every day, to the extremely polite and intelligent young black man who just sold me a pair of shoes.

I dislike having to check a box that says I am white for everything I do including buying a hunting license. It is my OPINION that this is unecessary and also that it serves to make some people feel good that somehow they are doing something good for minorities, but also IMO it just creates deeper distance between us.

That is all this is, my opinion. Obviously opinions vary. But it in no way makes me a racist.

Is a black man that dislikes doing this a racist too? Don’t tell me there aren’t those out there.

I understand your point but my intent wasn't to bully anyone. I honestly wasn't aware it was an offensive term. If Founder wants to delete it because it is considered hateful speech, I don't care, this is his website.

Snoopdogg and I were just joking around and if that joking offends someone then they need to grow thicker skin. It is sad that many people in our country are concerned with political correctness more than other major issues going on in the world. I think it is pathetic there are many people in our country concerned about political correctness but say nothing about what is going on in China.

I really don't care what adults decide to do with their life as long as it doesn't infringe on someones else's rights. I've worked around men that have decide they wanted to be women. I have no problem calling them by their new feminine name. They also understand that sometimes I'll make honest mistakes and use their old male name and mix up pronouns.

The Matthew Sheppard story is sad but much more complicated than someone being murdered because they are gay. Suicide with LTGB community is much more complicated than straight white men making fun of them.
 
Why did I feel it necessary to bring up that the young man who sold me a pair of shoes was black? Only because of this discussion. I deal with “non-white” people every day without giving it a thought. It wasn’t until He was checking me out that it actually occurred to me. He is young and I have no doubt he will go far if people on both sides of the isle will just get out of his way. Checking a box on a form will certainly not do it.
 
Government folk are smarter than the people they work for. They are great at separating us into groups, and when you rebel a little they just call you stupid and tell you to behave and do as told....and check the appropriate box......

Luckily for you, they give you the option of not participating, so enough. Don't participate, nobody cares.

There's a bunch of good things that come from understanding demographics, if you're as smart as you claim (which I don't doubt) you should readily recognize that.

It matters in how we function as a society to understand demographics, its not a conspiracy, its social science.

Lots of examples of how understanding demographics help society. Hospital density, access to food and drugs, how long people live, what those people will need long-term, infrastructure development, clean water, airport densities, public transportation, affordable housing, etc. etc. etc.. Where and how to invest money to meet the needs of ALL communities is important. We can't understand or solve those problems without data, demographics being one very important part of figuring it out.

They tell you right on the form for Colorado what they're using it for, and again, you don't have to participate.

Not seeing the conspiracy...but hey, people are free to be "outraged" as much as they choose to be or put an additional 2-3 layers of tinfoil on their hats.

My whole point, and you can look back up to verify this, is why the redundancy? Check the box when you set up an account and be done with it. The computer knows what we entered, so why do we have to enter it again and again and again when we purchase a tag

IMO I think the reason is political. They don’t need it each time to get the demographics

Maybe they want to see what demographic is purchasing leftover tags? They could use that data to potentially figure out why certain demographics are purchasing (or not) leftover tags. They could then use that data to target license sales, improve access to those tags for everyone, or maybe provide better or more efficient ways for all demographics to obtain those tags. Lots of reasons are viable.

They may also just come to the conclusion that demographics just don't seem to matter and there's no need to change anything. Staying stuck in a rut and not having data BEFORE you change things rarely achieves desired results, ever.

Guess you didn’t read the gay journalist who investigated the crime for years, and found that Matt was killed by another gay man and drug dealing associates. I think it was a horrible awful thing to happen to anyone, yes even someone who was using and dealing poison to the community, trust me I deal with addicts all the time, there is a special place in hell for people who poison communities with meth and herion… maybe if you play stupid games you win stupid prizes

With your personality you probably wouldn't get any answers. I have always found out all kinds of answers for all kinds of things. Show genuine interest you get generally good answers.

There are also a bunch of bad things that come from the government "understanding" demographics. if you're as smart as you claim (which I don't doubt) you should readily recognize that.

Collecting demographic information on hunters in Colorado is at minimum a waste of time and money.
