Scope for Coues ?

I should probably upgrade my scope. I was drawn for the early rifle hunt unit 27, my first hunt of this kind. Wondering what you experienced Coues hunters use for rifle scope. Don’t think my fixed power 6x42 is going to perform as needed.

I’d bet a 3-15x or 3-18x is about the best for our west.

Some sort of ballistic drop compensator would be valuable. Either a turret system or a ballistic reticle. Expect longer shot opportunities.

With that, learn your chosen turret moa or mail, or make sure to verify that it is correct with the information on hand if it is a burned turret or reticle

You guys think a 4x12 is too little magnification? Unit 27 has a lot of canyons
those deer are small and hard to see. ( thinking out loud here). I can’t see myself attempting a shot over 450 yards, I think a quality 4x12 should perform. Reluctant to get into the bigger scopes. I can find a good 4x12 at about 16-18 ounces.

4-12 or 4-16 is right in there as well. I run a 4-14x leupold lrp on one of my rifles and love it

450 yards. Just ordered the Swarovski Z3 4x12x50 BT. I think the 12x should do the job.

I have several different brands on my CF & RF rifles. Lately Mueller has been my scope to go for. Might go to their web sight and check out several different models which would do what you wan

You might try a scope that performs well from 100 to 500 yds.

4-12/16 is fine.... realistically you can get closer than 500 yards to the mythical beast, despite the rumor...
