grass is tall and lush hopefully bulls will fill out on the back ends better this fall

Opening weekend on the Ut elk hunt was miserable rain lighting and thunder over and over. Found out tyvek is NOT water proof.

Found a fresh dead 2 pt that a youngster had killed just before dark. Dad was verify gracious that I stubbled it for his sons first deer.

Then it was off to help my brother in Colorado we drove all through the night on Thursday arriving Friday morning. He had zero boots to the ground scouting so it was a little frustrating to go off a few places he was told to look. We saw one small bowl that morning I was little frustrated so I thought we should go higher in glass above Timberline.

Found a herd right above Timberline so we marked it with onx to get to it in the morning in the dark which was going to be tricky. We worked our way through the timber 2 hours before light to get to the x sure enough they were right where we left them the night before.

We left that night in the dark so it was kind of a soulless hunt. We did have a lovely game warding harassing us about not having his blue card and the nuts not teabagging the best choice meat.

With that storm I thought I better hit Idaho for the last 2 days of the hunt perfect conditions most of the hunters have gone home but very few deer. Found a buck about 3 Miles away the longest I've ever put a stalk on a deer but with the snow I could see it might be a shooter
