My boy drew this tag . Anybody hunted it in the last couple years ? Any decent goats in that unit ?

There are always a few decent bucks. There are very few bucks that will get to 15.5". Height isn't the name of the game in that unit. Plan on traveling through a lot of country and enjoy looking. There are plenty of goats, just have fun and find one that your son likes.

Game warden told us last year the biggest buck he checked was just over 14". We shot the biggest two we saw after driving the entire unit over three days, they all petered out above the prongs.

I wouldn't put much faith in what game wardens check, they miss checking a lot of animals and big ones.

A warden told some friends of mine last year that there hadn't been elk on a place in at least a week where JM77 and I shot ours out of from a herd of several hundred the very next morning.

Not sure how you miss seeing several hundred elk in a place...but it happens I guess.

I'm surprised this unit doesn't do better. Still good stuff but noting the region I'd expect better.

I have that tag this year. I am excited as I have hunted 57 the last couple of years. So it is nice to switch it up a bit and see what I find.

Really fun hunt. The dead head I found scores nearly the same as the one I took. I got the proper permit to be able to take the dead head. No shortage of antelope out there!

That region in Wyo got hammered pretty hard by winterkill a couple years ago. It only takes antelope 2 1/2 years plus to reach b&c. I would expect a few booners to start showing up this year in that general region of Wyo. There may not be as many antelope so it may take a little more time and covering every corner to find a whopper. There are some remote regions and some private in that unit that can hide a whopper.
