HOW BOUT IT Fat Banty???

So years ago my computer had so many viruses and I'm so computer illiterate that I gave up on trying to post the Big Buck Contest pictures. But now its very easy to do from my phone so ill throw up a few pictures from years past. Hope you like them. Fatrooster.

I will introduce myself to those of you that don't know me. I'm Monster Muleys Fatrooster and in the picture with me is my wife Mrs. Fatrooster. History of our Big Buck contest. In 1999 my friend Jack Constable started the Big Buck Contest at a little bar called the Watering Hole in Spring Creek, Nevada. Around 2003 I started dating my wife who is sister-n-law to Jack and in 2005 Jack became my brother-n-law and I started getting involved with the contest. Somewhere over the years we added a Bull Elk category and it became The Big Buck and Bull Contest. My Mother and Father in law owned the little bar and later sold it but we still did the Buck and Bull Contest. Somewhere along the way me and my wife took over the contest and now the contest has been going on for 22 years.

The bar logo for The Watering Hole is three horses drinking out of a glass with straws. During our contest we add antlers on the horses heads.

In 22 years of putting on this contest we've had many kids grow up entering this event year after year. My favorite part of this contest is the youth category and over the years we have put a lot of effort into building this category up. We give prizes up to 15 place in most years. From 1st to 6th place we give rifles. Then we give backpacks, binoculars and many other things we hope the kids can use on future hunts. We also give a .22 rifle to the kid with the smallest buck and have had kids compete on purpose trying to get the smallest buck in years past trying to get that .22 rifle, lol. Sometimes we have a boys and girls smallest buck.

I proudly claim that this is the most redneckeness contest ever and we try to live up to it. This contest is only open to Nevada Bucks and Bulls and you must buy your entry ticket before your hunt starts and you must present your tag when you buy your entry ticket. So if you are interested in getting in our contest and you have a Nevada tag and you don't mind spending your day with Patriots, working class people and rednecks then come on.

Thanks Elk for getting Fat Banty to post. Thanks Fat Banty for posting that up, and the work you and your family put into it! Good to know this stuff still goes on in this crazy country. Keep up the great work!

Bigwiffy, this is about family and a good time and at the same time we are making a stand for hunting. I would love to see more contest like this. The liberals have shut down many contests like this as well as coyote contests and they are trying to shut down everything about hunting that they can. Thankyou Bigwiffy for the compliments. We don't have the biggest deer, or the biggest elk, but we do have big hearts. If you ever wanna come for a casual day with like minded people just for fun then please do. And let me know you are coming. Fatrooster

I think we will make you Sargent of arms Joe and head of security.
I am in!! Leslie and I will move back up there and just put the fifth wheel right out in front of the bar! This way I can stumble over to the Sinclair each morning for breakfast before we head to the Spring Creek golf course. If Elkassassin is gonna hire us, ya might wanna post pics of the horse at the bar!! Otherwise, he might not take us seriously

Now that's what it's all about right there! Elkass-Mrs. Banty is tougher than than the 3 of us put together and she's fun as hell to hang out with 2. She also makes damn good chili. Spring Creek is just a really great place to be. As Fatrooster stated-there is another bar close by and there are a couple more as well but each place for the most part-has people that all feel the same about things. I promise-she won't throw us all out, especially if we are tipping her bartenders correctly. By the way-her cat is mean as all hell!!

Looks like a good time. Great job getting the kids involved. My boss has some property in Jiggs just south of you. He has some pretty funny stories about the little bar there.

Thanks Fatrooster. That is great work and this is an outstanding post. The youth work is above and beyond. Your pictures are worth a fortune, and there are many like-minded folks around that appreciate your effort. That whole thing is a model that could be followed elsewhere.

We need a LOT MORE posts like this on MM. Good people doing great work and not so much bickering.

This is solid. Kids that grow up with tradition and strong reference and roots to events like these tend to feel more grounded when they grow up in my opinion. Gives a sense of purpose and belonging.

I want to come out and park my trailer for a few days and help you guys cook.

Those Pictures are awesome. You guys sure are keeping the young hunters keeping it real.
I like the one with the wrestling shirt. Old coaches never say quit.

We've got a group that hangs out at the grill and you are more than welcome to do that. Got room for a trailer out back. Fatrooster

The kid with the wrestling shirt is grown up now, sports a full beard and dabbles and helps out with guiding services. A great young respectful young man that im proud to know. Fatrooster
