If there is anyone willing to share their experience bear hunting in the Book Cliffs, I’d appreciate hearing all about it. Thank you.

Had a great hunt with GT Outfitters. Give them a call and they’ll get you a bear.

Hey there. I also drew a spring bear tag. I hunted down there in 2020 chasing deer with my muzzy. I seen some tracks but never seen any bears. I want to try the spot and stock for bears but it’s hard to even know where to start up there. Does anyone on here by chance know if the divide road is free of snow in early April?

Not likely this year, have had a couple big storms the last couple weeks that put down some snow out there. Might be able to get around on an atv but there is usually some big drifts in spots.

Anyone been down to the books lately? Just wondering the current conditions as farr as snow pack goes. It’s started warming up a little, chatted with the biologist a few weeks ago, he claimed 3ft of snow on the divide road. Just curious if anyone has an update

We were ust there not much snow at all. Maybe up super high, but we were around 7650 feet and could get around.

I have been up on the Books the last few weekends look for Bears and Cougars the last couple weekends and all the roads we tried other than one or two where good! I will be heading back up on friday to see if I can get these tag filled!

Just wanted to follow up on the bear hunt. I’ve driven by the Book Cliffs many times, but I never hunted it until last week. It’s incredibly beautiful country and unforgiving in many spots.

The unit seemed exceptionally dry and dusty and there were plenty of houndsmen running around. We hunted three days and the hounds ended up putting this beautiful bear in a tree. It was an incredible adventure and it’s my biggest bear to date. The best part was spending time with four great friends!

Thank you to the MM folks who helped out. I’ve met some really good people on this site. I’ve not only received great information from the site, but I’ve been fortunate enough to help others as well.
