YOU BIDDING Hossy???

Saw the young lady this morning, and still cute as a button. Her Mexico Coues is impressive!!

Another jaw dropper was 42,500.00 for an Arizona Coues Deer license. But mostly the auction prices are holding about same, or a few weaker than last year.

I saw one hunt that was a was a good buy, hint... a mule deer hunt.

ride low in the saddle and stay off the ridgetops

I've been watching the bidding on various items all thru the day today. The statewide AZ deer tag is up to $207, 500 and the auction doesn't start for 3 more hours!! Wait until we add alcohol. :) Insane money we are talking.

:) :) :) Speaking of alcohol, when I validated my application yesterday, at the bottom of the list I noticed TWO Turkey tags!! What was I drinking, err thinking??? I have got to quit drinking at the computer.

Let Me Guess Blank?

You Wanna go Hunting With Preddy again?

They've auctioned a ton of Utah Desert Sheep Tags. They use to auction tags that covered multiple units, now they're all for individual units. The sheep herd is getting way over-hunted.

Ridge doesn't think OC is LE. That must be a typo...
I've gotten some pretty decent photos down here in the last week or two. I didn't go out intentionally looking for photos but they were on the side of the road while I was out checking traps.

The good thing about the $400K is that every penny of that $400K will go to on the ground AZ deer habitat & water projects designed to benefit AZ deer. No finder's fees, no administrative costs & no 10% for the big guy. Thank you MDF & UT!

Meh the rams are going to die regardless. They really start dropping off around 7 years old. Might as well let a hunter blast em.

When was the last time you hunted sheep in Utah?

The picture in my avatar is my dad's ram. I was with my dad and another hunter when they each killed in that unit this year. We only saw two other rams in all our hunting. The other tag holder couldn't find a ram and didn't get a sheep. They're getting shot out.

The unit where my wife killed her ram four years ago had a 60% success rate this year. There were nine units where the hunters ate Tag Soup in 2021, whereas only a few years ago they had 100% success rates.

The unit where I shot my ram two years ago has seen a significant drop-off in top level rams as the older rams just don't exist like they did 6-10 years ago. The Governor's Tag holder was looking for a ram that I passed but it was killed by a NR hunter before they could get to it. The Statewide hunter killed the ram below after I took this picture and passed on him.

We looked over some of the best rams in the state that year, and there are just getting fewer and fewer big, old rams left. Everybody is out chasing the same few sheep.

My overarching point is that you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

I know you're just trolling, but that was a pretty weak attempt.

I wouldn’t waste my time in Utah. Look at the number of permits they give out. Nothing is getting shot out. There’s a lot more at play, look at the bigger picture. I would bet half those rams killed by humans would of died some other death so you might as well hunt them.

You can’t seriously bring up hunter success when so many people don’t know how to hunt sheep because the tags are so few. I hunted a unit last fall that 2 out of 24 people filled their tags. Sounds terrible right? Well actually there were plenty of rams and more rams than they’ve seen in 8 years.

But yeah it’s getting “shot out”. ???

Congrats on hunting it on year that it likely had an unusual amount of rams. Yea it happens. Good for you. But that doesn’t you an expert or what the unit should look like every year.
