I doubt I'll make it down there to see the show. I honestly can see some tension, arguments and possibly fights breaking out between DIY hunters and Mossback and Wade lemon, etc. over this trail cam ban. I am curious what the climate and feel is down there.

If you head down there let me know.

here is your report...

lots of ebikes, tipi tents, way over priced jackets and backpacks, flat brimmed hats, over hyped "Gatorade" packets and a few out of place boths selling trinket sh!t you would find at a flee market leaveing you wonder how they got a both at a hunting expo.

Yeah I've been every year for the last 6 or 7 years but probably won't make it this year. May go validate but definitely not going into the circus. I'm just wondering if there's tension in the air.

Why ??? Most diy and those guys are on the same page and the diy guys just want to use trail cams to document what came in the day after they were sitting their honey hole. It actually makes it more fun to know you were 'right' but never seem to be 'right' on the same day the giant thinks is 'right'. Hahahahaha

I'll be down this early AM.

I'll post some pix later.

I don't expect any 'masked/unmasked/bait boys or T-cam types/tension until the boozed up crowd starts arriving! later in the day. haha

Spot lights are fun too,but it doesn’t make it right.

I too am curious if their will be tension.

I mean who can wear the smallest shirt. That creates tension.

Tension caused by trying to find the stupidest terms to give sleeping bags and thermal undies. Sleep systems and base layers, can you feel your temperature rising?

Who has the flattest brim. Tension all day.

Then there is the video of who gained the most elevation to get water. Wow, dudes be fighting.

Heaviest pack on furthest hike. WOW!!

Dudes that haven't seen the Firebull, that's a blood pressure rise!

Then there's podcast tension. Who will be on the most podcasts in a weekend. That's a death March.

The language alone causes huge tension. "Bro, epic" used every sentence is tension building stuff.

That doesn't even take into account how many stories the fanboys have for Doyle, impressing him with their hunter cred. That's tension all day. A dude only gets one chance.

Toyota parking is tension enough by itself.

The real tension of all the dudes who complain all year about the $$$$ in Utah hunting, but lined up at the door of the expo, that could create a tension headache.

Last. All the social media public land advocates, and the tension caused by trying to not have to explain supporting $fw, who isn't. (Newberg, Meateater, Gritty,Born and Raised, to name a few), going to be tough. Ibuprofen may be needed.

Can't wait to get there Tuesday and watch it boil over!

Funny stuff. Make sure you wear all your camo and strap on your pack so you can blend into the crowd!

I hate crowds, I don't understand why so many people show up for them. I will be there with my curved bill. I wont be buying any $20 gatorade but $7 beers wont even faze me. I wont sucker punch, fist bump, high five, man hug, or anything else to Doyle, Wade, or anyone else for that matter. I will buy something that cost too much and likely never use. If I even remember buying it I wont be able to find it when I need it. Luckily there are a bunch of people in Utah that hate the expo and everything it stands for. I can imagine how bad the crowds would be if everyone just lightened up a bit and went to just look around at all the outdoor stuff that most of us here use when we enjoy the outdoors. I am going to watch the Super Bowl on Sunday too. I just don't have that inner anger that makes me want to pass on things I enjoy to make the world a better place.

Need to just morph these two for the sake of typing space.

I like Doywadle Lemoss.

There's a super bowl this weekend?

If someone wants to go to the expo I'm all for it. What chaps me is that I am forced to make a 3-hour drive, one way, to be able to apply for PUBLIC permits. Some people have to travel much farther and at a great expense.
It really is not a fair system, and it is certainly not the best way to make the most money for Utah's wildlife. It is however the best way to pad the pockets of SFW, Guides and outfitters and fire putty salesmen.

Do something about it. Take up the fight.

Oh, I have. I have contacted the WB and the Governers office. Mandatory attendance (in person validation of applications) is in the contract that SFW has to run the Expo. Until the next Expo contract comes up for renewal we are screwed.

Last year was a fluke because of the Corona virus. They made much more money on application fees last year, the money that goes to Utah's wildlife, when everyone could apply on their computer without having to validate those applications in person.

But like I said before, the expo really isn't about improving Utah's wildlife.

Here ya go-----

Not too crowded early when the doors open

Enjoy,

If I remember correctly, the purpose of the hunt expo isn’t to provide hunt opportunities for the public. The tag raffle is a way to bring masses of people to the city and to get more publicity and also bidders for the high dollar auction. If in person validation isn’t required then the number of attendees drops big time. I’ve attended every year and am amazed how the number of booths has increased. I’m guessing that this year may be the biggest one to date. I’ll find out tomorrow.

My bud Hoss said he was going Tuesday so I waited and waited for him a couple days ago! Now I hear him talking about Tuesday again so I'll assume he means NEXT Tuesday.
Finally we'll meet and hug it all out! :ROFLMAO:

That's it for today.....

Of course, I had to stop by the Navy booth!

Just for the Ole Marine as we use to this most every opening Thursday before he moved........

I have to offer a correction.

Randy Newberg sent me a note this morning to tell me he absolutely is not at the expo.

So I was wrong.

The rest of my post, dead on?

They are public tags. SMH....

Road trip! Have to validate the few apps I did, so perfect opportunity to visit grand daughter and drop off some furniture for her apt. I'll bypass the bazillion deer and elk mounts, see my African friends, and head for home!! I'm usually fearless, but shopping and driving in SLC scares the crap outta me!

It was great to watch Utah Meteorologist legend Mark Eubank today at the show, looks like Snow is in the forecast with the white weather Blazer being worn. Great to see the energy and support for Utah’s wildlife. Just imagine how gawd awful are piss poor pathetic deer herd would be with out this gathering. Let’s keep it going for a few more days.

Good stuff you guys!

I do like to buy/support our local vendors at the Expo.

I ordered some of these seat covers for my JP Gladiator.

Hand made/sewn and these guys use to be up in the Basin/Vernal

I did get a chance to chit-chat with 10er and it's always pleasant to visit with him.

He's pictured above in the white blazer and cowboy hat.

Today will be the biggest/crowded day of the 4 so try and keep an eye out to support our local Vendors that are there for our support.

These guys are out of Pleasant Grove and have very reasonable prices on the eBike's.
