Bear Mount Pictures or ideas

Visited the site a lot but never posted. Seems like the community gives a lot of good opinions and ideas. I shot a decent bear this year on Utah’s Summer bait hunt. I’ll attach some pics soon. This is my first and only bear. I’m considering doing a full body mount but wondered what people like in a full body mount or if anyone had pictures they wanted to share of their mounts. I think the natural closed mouth looks the best. And it's cheaper to mount.

They do look smaller that's for sure.

Good looking bear! I think it would look great as a full body mount. Yes, often times the mounts look smaller than you would expect. If done correctly, they should represent the actual size though. Did you take measurements of the bear before you skinned it? That really helps a taxidermist, if you can give him those measurements.

I too am looking for bear mount ideas, as I have a good bear from last year, and it’s time to decide on the form, pose, base, etc. my last full body bear mount was done with a closed mouth, which I like. I am considering a slightly open mouth for my next one, just to bring a little variety into the mix, but undecided. I am not a fan of the standing bear mounts. The belly and underside is usually the most unattractive part of the bear in my opinion, so why show it off. You bear looks like it has a great hide and fur for a summer bear. The base and habitat are important in making the overall mount look good. I have seen decent mounts ruined by poor habitat and base. I don’t like the habitat to be overdone, and it’s a tricky balance. Im not a fan of moss under the feet, and having the feet properly fitted and matched to the habitat is important. Bottom line, a good taxidermist will know all of this stuff. I’m a bit picky when it comes to my mounts, and have some I’m happy with, and some that I’m not. Pick a good taxidermist, ask to see his work, and then make sure you tell them everything you want and expect in your mount. If you can provide pics and examples of what you expect, I think it helps. And as mentioned, I too have been looking around online for ideas of good full body mounts. Here are a few pics I have saved, and there are certain aspects of these mounts, and habitats that I like. I will probably send a combination of pics to my taxi, asking him to match certain parts of the mounts, or habitat, or head, or mouth, and put together my own pose and mount by cherry picking what I like from others mounts. Hope these are helpful pics and ideas for you in nailing down a good mount.

Unfortunately I didn’t take any measurements before skinning. Thanks for your ideas and pictures. Your mount looks awesome and I can only hope mine looks that good.

Who did your mount they did a heck of a job that is one fine bear mount. I would score it as a 10+

Well here he is. Turned out great. Ended up having a taxidermist do it that had not done a bear before and I think he did a great job. Couldn’t be happier.
