We are not prepared for this long of a cold spell. Even those of us that live in parts of the state where temps occasionally fall into the teens, even single digits are not prepared for over a week of below freezing temps. Power is out for many, just got notice from water department that water may be shut off because of no power to pump. Got at least three more days below freezing in the forecast. My wood stove is working overtime!

I have to laugh at certain people's perception of cold weather. When we moved down from Idaho and lived in Bay City, the kids and I went to HEB in shorts and flip flops. There were people there in Carhardt coveralls and hats/gloves! You would have thought we were the Adams Family from TV, by the looks we got!! I think in 3 months, it will be 100 degrees and this will all be a faint memory.

Just be thankful for the water!!

Talked to a friend there in Austin today. His power went out on Sunday night, and just came back on this morning. 40 degrees in the house, and no water for last two days!!

Y'all need me and some family to come on up and snag some of those carcasses? They look tasty! And they're already on ice.

It's a real shame when you talk to the guys who are losing their animals. A little cold is to be expected, but this was a crazy one for them. From watching all the news reports, the damages to buildings and infrastructure will be as bad as some of the hurricanes!! Billions by the time it's all added up.

I live in Fredericksburg in the heart of the Hill Country. Lots of ranches around here with exotics. Ton of loss from axis, blackbuck, and others freezing. Sad deal. They generate alot of revenue for these ranchers selling trophy and meat hunts.
