Because I just did, so you haven’t got a chance!

I am not lucky, but my wife is, so I have her click the apply button for me. ?. And it is her Birthday today, so hopefully even more luck. ?. Good luck gentlemen, and Ladies. But only if you apply for something’s besides what I did!

haha :). I'm so lucky that I always have to wait to apply in Utah, until after Arizona draws. Don't want to accidentally schedule TWO early rifle rut elk hunts at the same time!!!

I bought a license last year, so I had to apply early this year so that my license allows me to apply without purchasing one this year. Just cost me $45 total this year (they went up to $15 per species)

Hope I have to buy a license this year, cause that would mean I drew!

I'll take 23 Bonus points over luck any day-------Just wish I had that many! Unless of coarse your trying to win the lottery with a unit that only has one tag. If that's the case your gonna need more than just your wife's luck!! Wish ya'll the best

I'm a NR with 24 for deer, and 21 for moose. Figure I got a lock on it in 10-15 years, unless they change it again!!

Moving to Kanab is looking better every year. :)
Kanab/Kanab canyon is an interesting town lot of history
On the duke and his movies,

There’s the Paunsy management hunt.

You're not lucky!?! I have 25 NR Elk going in, and I'm still not feeling it!!

Blank-- If I had your 24 points for deer and didn't draw Arizona I'd be hunting in Utah this year somewhere/some weapon for deer ! Not in one of the two units your apparently holding out for , unless of coarse that Kanab move is really happening! Don't wait too long. Life throws curve balls at us and like you said they can change things.

Just the other day I mentioned to the wife that maybe we ought to move to Utah for a couple years so I could draw some better units for deer and elk. I got the LOOK. I guess she likes it here in Montana so we'll be staying.

Nice Mule Deer Buckhorn

I have to apply in several states just to up my chances of luck. I did have some luck in Utah a couple of years ago. Drew the random tag with 13 points. Max points it took 20. You never know when it will be your day.

I would gladly share my points free with a someone with knowledge of the unit and possibly hunt with me. But I need a year or 2 more before I am ready to use mine.

I'll buy your general nr deer tag that you would draw. If you are applying for a limited deer unit with a good chance of drawing, and you draw that limited tag, then it would invalidate the general tag.

Big game permits are drawn in the following order:
• First—Buck deer (all limited-entry permits)
• Second—Bull elk (all limited-entry permits)
• Third—Buck pronghorn (all limited- entry permits)
• Fourth—Once-in-a-lifetime permits • Fifth—General buck deer (Lifetime
License holders)
• Sixth—General buck deer (Dedicated
Hunters)
• Seventh—General buck deer (youth) • Eighth—General buck deer
• Last—Youth any bull elk

Thanks blank

Blank thanks for the reply.

How would this scenario work?
A person applies for a limited entry buck tag And also applies for general buck deer in a group application.
The limited entry application is successful.
What would happen to the applicants in the group for General buck deer?
Would they all be disqualified or just the one applicant that Drew his limited entry?

Also, in case some non-residents don’t realize this, even though they let us “apply” for multiple species, we are actually only applying for one tag. If I draw a deer tag, I’m not even in the elk drawing. Can only draw one tag for a year

You would get your LE tag, and a General season point, your partners would still get the general tag as long as they had enough points to draw it, if not then they would get a point as well.

Correct, if you draw out for any of the LE/OIL hunts you will just gain a point for the rest that follow the draw order and will not be able to draw another tag.

So if you was really lucky and drew a elk tag from the random LE draw, you would not be able to draw a OIL tag even if you had enough points and was guaranteed to draw out for it, but at least you know what you will be hunting the next year.

I drew Non Res LE Antelope (Anthro) and a Nine Mile mule deer tag both in 2019.

But I really don’t know what would happen if you were part of a group app and your group was selected for what would be a second LE tag for you

No clue on that as I always apply and hunt solo. Thanks for the information.

The group would draw out if they was lucky enough to get selected.

So if Hunter "A" puts in for deer by himself because he has a bunch of points and then puts in as a group for elk with Hunters "B" and "C".

Say Hunter "A" draws out for deer, he is now ineligible to draw out for for elk, But would still receive an elk point for his application he would just be pulled from the draw. Hunters B and C are still in the draw and say they get lucky and draw out as well. Hunter A would get his deer tag and a point for elk, and Hunters B and C would get their elk tags. In a way hunter A missed out because he just used up a ton of points on his deer tag, when he could have drawn elk with his buddies for just a few points.

I wish they would stop allowing us to “apply” for multiple species. It would increase our odds exponentially.

They could still allow applying for points for all species. Just only apply for 1 tag. That way we get points for the future and Utah gets their money. I would have drawn my elk tag by now if they did that. And that is why residents can only apply for 1 species
