Elk unit 30

I am a nonresident with max points (15).

Looking at applying for unit 30.

I have a few questions.

Is unit 30 really worth max points ?

Is private property a problem ?

Would units 31 or 32 better ?

I’m looking to tent camp out of a truck, drive to different spots and day hike in a few miles, returning to my truck camp each night

Hoping to hunt mature bulls with a chance at something in the 300 + class.

Any advice ?

Some years there’s a lot of big bulls running around some years there is not.

Is it worth max points? Only you can answer that.

If I had max points and 20 days off I would pick a different unit. If you can realistically only hunt a week or so I wouldn’t hesitate to take it.

Private land is usually not an issue in that area.

I had the tag in 2019 and have given advice to some of the other members on this thread that are offering help. I’d be happy to point you in the right direction and answer any questions you may have. I got a bull I’m happy with but saw lots of smaller bulls and none that were bigger.

Deer hunted in 102 this year, pm if you want. I would choose 31 of the three 30s- especially if you bowhunt.
