Great point.Agreed with buckhorn I would also add that it isn’t necessarily hunting competition but just general public recreation as well. You’ll be watching some deer and a guy blows by on his dirt bike, quad, utv, truck, even hikers and trail runners pop up outta no where.
Great point.
Those folks out walking their dogs and bike riding see a hunter in camo and act like he’s a terrorist or something.
You nailed it on the dirt bikes also. They are becoming a real problem for hunters especially in unit 021.

marberg.21 has been ruined by dirt bikers. There is a trail over every saddle on the dogskins. The whole Eastside of 21 just gets hammered with dirt bikes all the time...even in the winter. Feel sorry for those deer.
Again buckhorn, I thank you for your honesty! And thanks Researcher and marburg for the additional insight. I’m still looking into this pretty hard! I have a lot of years invested in this...marberg.
That is the sad truth unfortunately.
There are only a few places left in 021 where you can get away from the dirtbike trails.
I know you have first-hand experience from your hunt last year.
I went out quite a few times this spring just to take a hike and maybe find a shed antler or two but it was really discouraging all of the dirtbike tracks everywhere. Honestly I think they are even looking for sheds on their motocross bikes. Even in the Sand Hills where it’s restricted critical winter range and there is no motor vehicles allowed there are dirt bike tracks and trails everywhere.
And very very few deer tracks.

Sorry, for the repost...So I just want to say thank you to everyone who was willing to help!
I’m not going to “name, names”, as I don’t think they care for recognition, and they you know who they are...
Pretty exciting to see deer act like that! They really do get a little dingy?
I do want to thank my brother in law for showing up on a spur of the moment, he helped me find this buck this first time, and after I gave him some warning shots, he found him again...
The terrain is not what I’m use to (at least where we found them), and there behavior is definitely unique in this area. At least from a lot of other areas I’ve hunted...
I seen tons of action, and more bucks than does, everywhere I hunted (just not anything “big”, but cool)!
I still had six days to hunt, and had only hunted three when we found this buck.
He’s not a giant, I wouldn’t even say big..?
But he’s cool!!!
Dark heavy antlers with extras...
