Well the bow opener was a hot one out here. Left the house at 2:30am and when we got to the trail head at 5:30 it was already above 80degrees. After six hours of fighting the heat we had to call it a day. My wife has been battling some health issues for the last year so time in the mountains can be limited to her health. The plan was to put in 3 days but with our Utah hunt coming up and my wife’s health it was cut short. Opening more we saw a sow and two cubs at 80 yards and a couple does. So I count that as a success. We squeezed in a couple hours Sunday evening sitting a water hole and watched a coyote and a couple does come down for a drink. It’s funny how the older I get the more things seem to slow down and I get more enjoyment just being able to get out.
My wife is doing a little better so hopefully we can get out for a 3 day weekend and get a buck on the ground. We hunt a pretty hard zone so it’s important to get a few hunts back to back to connect.
