Then, if it was me, I'd be looking at x-zones closer to home. You can have a wonderful experience pursuing mule deer in x-9a or x-12 with your 11 points....or you could apply as a party with a buddy for a zone like x-9b or x-8. Any of these zones have the capability of turning out quality bucks...

If you are already buying the NR license and presumably applying for deer, elk, and pronghorn....why wouldnt you apply for sheep as well? It's a not like it costs an arm and a leg, right?

you will eventually....just gotta stay the course. Use the time to learn some of the more "off the radar" units that exist. There are some really good opportunities in NV! Over the past 20-ish years as a non-resident I have drawn (and punched!): 1 Pronghorn Buck tag 4 Mule Deer tags 1 Cow Elk...

Do you have enough points to draw this year? If so, I wish you the best of luck. Have always been interested in that zone....but dont know anyone personally that has hunted it.

The 2024 application season is upon us....So far NM and AZ (elk, pronghorn) showed me no love. Utah and Nevada and Wyoming are next up....fingers crossed. I do know that I should draw a WY elk tag this year as I have ample points for the zones applied for. This WY elk hunt has influenced my...

I say GO FOR IT! An A-zone adventure could be fun! I just got my B-zone tag in the mail yesterday. Never hunted up there before. Got permits for several blocks of time over the summer to do some scouting. Should be an interesting journey… stay tuned.

Do you live close enough to X9a to do a significant amount of preseason scouting? SCOUTING IS ALWAYS THE KEY TO SUCCESSFULLY FILLING YOU TAG!...especially these days. I wouldnt pay much attention to the naysayers that claim "zone (fill in the blank) isnt what is used to be" ...Why? Because...

What zone isn't nowadays? Gotta take it all in perspective and look at it this way... Are there other zones here in CA that would provide an better experience for you personally than X9A that require the same amount of points to draw? If not....well, I guess that's what it will cost you to...
