WYGF stiffs NR, then begs them for $

Yes it is! And if he doesn’t give a #^%, then why does he come on this thread and whine about NR posts. Just ignore them. Dont spend your money here. Slice it any way you like it, but he buys his cheap OTC tags the day before the season thanks to expensive NR tags. And his math doesn’t add up...

WYGF stiffs NR, then begs them for $

Not living in a dream world. I said “IF” there was a boycott. Of course it will never happen. And IF you ever eliminated NR completely, as was suggested by a resident, you are living in a dream world to think you would be just fine monetarily And IF you don’t like NRs being pissed because we...

WYGF stiffs NR, then begs them for $

Never given WY any money and prob won’t. But if NRs did all skip 1yr, it would be residents begging us to come back. No question It’s why the residents of western states whine about us being upset with the prices. Just shut up and pay it is their motto. Who is whining depends on which side of...

    Points are Points

For 98% of us it is a OIL tag. Drew my LE elk after 20+ years and now have 6 years before I can apply again. I will be 72 then. So I am ok with just making it a OIL for NR. That said, it doesn’t improve odds any appreciable amount to do that.

    Wolf release map.

I wondered what wolverines eat. Google says mostly small mammals and carrion , but they can bring down full grown deer in deep snow. Their feet are like snowshoes. Since they don’t hibernate, that’s one more winter game stressor. And I am sure fawns and calves are on the menu at times too...

    Credit card $.25?

It says all license INCLUDE those fees. So I interpret that as the small game license includes that. Shouldn’t be a refund for that

    What to put in for?

Maybe there’s a good opportunity for someone with low points to help this guy and points share :) But he hasn’t even been on here since April 26. Guess he has put it on the back burner til next April.

To someone who waits till the evening of the last day of apps, and the only posts he has made before or since are on this thread? You’re a good man Charlie Brown Different attitude if he came back on here soon and asked for advice for next year. I would be happy to teach him info that would...

    What to put in for?

I will occasionally give people a fish, esp those that have fished but were unsuccessful, but I love to teach people to fish. So when someone who has been considering fiahing for 21 years, but hasn’t tried, wants me to give him a fish….

    I'M CALLIN BS!!!

Or Maybe this is a good compromise that they’ll stick to. The age of problem: trophy versus opportunity. I think it all depends on how many years it takes to get drawn for a resident. Out to 3-5 years, I suspect people would be fine to wait. If it’s more than that, and you can shoot a nice buck...

    I'M CALLIN BS!!!

Fact: if Utah game department manages for harvesting 2 yr old bucks, they can issue more tags and make more money. Not saying that’s a bad thing, it allows more people to hunt. If voted on, I suspect people would side with more tags and a nice buck vs giving him 2 more years for a little more...

    Points are Points

So you’re saying there’s a chance!! I’d rather have a 10% chance of drawing one tag than 2% of drawing any tag And not only would it help your random chances, but would help draw a bonus tag sooner. You are a NR?
  19. txhunter58

    Points are Points

But they could have their cake and eat it too. Allow us to apply for points for all species, but just put in for one hunt. They make the same money and our odds go up astronomically Why would anyone new start putting in when they look at the odds. I think if odds went up for hunts, they might...
  20. txhunter58

    Points are Points

I guess I’m in the minority but I don’t understand why NRs would rather have a < 1% random odds applying for all species rather than a 5-10% chance (or higher) of applying for 1 species. At one point I was up to around 8-9% odds of drawing a San Juan bull tag. But since they allowed us to...

    Cheatgrass 101

Found this about Montezuma county in SW CO. They will cost share ($250-500 limits) for cheatgrass. Application may be accepted or turned down. I am checking in Dolores Co, where my property is, but haven’t found anything yet...

    Cheatgrass 101

Well, with cattle being hauled to the High country every year, it’s only a matter of time till those seeds get spread uphill. Also, hay is probably a method of spread as well.

    Cheatgrass 101

Jims. Any elevation it won’t grow above? It would make sense that it isn’t as harmful in heavy farming areas. It’s green in the winter , crops are green in the summer.

    Cheatgrass 101

Pic brings up couple thoughts. Does look like it’s a good way for a fire to spread When is it green? If it becomes a monoculture and it’s not green all year, what do they eat the rest of the year? Mule deer generally don’t get much nutrition from “grass”. Can they digest this better than...

San Juan NR MZ mule deer

I can tell you this. If the draw was random only, I would’ve dropped out a long time ago. No, I’ll never draw Primo tag. Probably not even San Juan. But if I live long enough, I’ll draw a decent tag.

    $fw where's the money?

This is basackwards. For running the expo and tag sales, SFW should get 10% of what’s brought in. Even the statement about MDF is wrong. It should not state that they are “giving” the state money. They are returning money Utah gave them. The whole thing should be simple: Total money from...

    Cheatgrass 101

I am clearing cedar of my Texas ranch. Costing $400/acre but with NRCS grant money I only have to pay $150/acre. Still adds up, but there is money out there if you look. The deer on my place are doing “ok” but will do better with cedar gone, and all wildlife benefits.

    Cheatgrass 101

Ours is actually a beneficial native grass and is called Texas Wintergrass because it can green up in winter. But it’s normally called spear grass for obvious reasons. Here is how they look on the plant

    Cheatgrass 101

I am a vet and I don’t have any cheatgrass near me but we have our own variety of spear type seeds. Find them between the toes, armpits, up the nose, and sometimes even deep in the ear canal right at the ear drum I wouldn’t expect much of a problem with a GSP due to short, tight skin/hair, but...
